Lotto Sorcerer X 4.2 (Mac OS X)

Genius.

I have downloaded approximately 30 apps from VersionTracker since I began visiting the site. This software might be the worst (I've never tried it). However, there is no doubt in my mind that its creator is the most brilliant to ever put his/her work up on this site. I hope the author wins the lottery of applications-that-people-are-actually-willing-to-pay-for. Good show. [alert admin]

Audio Recorder 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Cool little program, strange little bug

I just used this real small program to import the audio from a microcassette to an MP3 on my 15" Powerbook thru the microphone jack. Worked just great, but there's one little bug I think I found. I chose to monitor my recording (via a checkbox in Audio Recorder), and when my recording was done, I closed the program and changed my audio input device back to the onboard mic that sits in the left speaker on my Powerbook. While typing a bit later, I noticed that the sound of my keys clacking was getting picked up by the onboard mic and "monitored" in the external speakers I keep attached to my Powerbook thru the headphone jack. Anyway, I re-opened Audio recorder, unchecked the monitor option, and the monitoring stopped. So, long story short, the "monitor audio" feature keeps working after quitting the application. I'm absolutely convinced this is so the developer can log our keystrokes. ::replaces tin foil hat:: [alert admin]

DockArt 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Too cool

For displaying art in the dock, this is much better than Clutter. I used Clutter as a way to *get* all the art I needed for my collection, but once on there, I just wanted the art displayed. The ability to replace the iTunes icon is what makes Dockart superior. [alert admin]
