ChkRootKit_MacOSX 0.47.5 (Mac OS X)
The zip file wouldn't even unzip properly - I got a whole string of errors. It shows in Finder as a package though, so I tried installing it anyway just to see what would happen, and no go. Earlier versions worked just fine! "Used Product For: Have not tried." Yeah, right. I tried and got nowhere! G4-400, OSX 10.4.11. [alert admin]

Uli's Moose 3.5.6 (Mac OS X)
(Well, I haven't tried THIS version anyway.........) =ROFLMAO= I =gasp= can't =wheeze= stand it!!!!!!!!!!! "A moose bit my sister once..... . . . . . ....No, really." This guy was just about the first piece of SW I put on my shiny new $3000 SE-30 when I bought it in 1990. What a flaming riot! Alas, I had to kiss the funny little guy bye-bye when I installed System 7 and found out that no way could I resolve the conflict between him and another extension I absolutely needed for work. =boo hoo= Welcome back, mØØse dØØd. Have I got a bunch of Terry Pratchett quotes for you! I'll meet you in the morning over a cup of Voracious Coffee.............. [alert admin]

Clone Window 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)
A while back I found out quite by accident that I could fake the system out by popping into column view, going up one level, double-clicking the desired folder, and popping back into list view (which I use for everything except folders of image files) but it's a pain in the drain. This will make my life so much easier! [alert admin]

EasyWMA 2.7.5 (Mac OS X)
It converts those bleeping wma files to mp3 beautifully. It's simple, quick, and free. I could say that with mp3 having become so universal since the iPod came out, there's really no excuse for wma files in the first place any more (all you recalcitrant unenlightened stuck-in-the-20th-century µ!¢®0$0ƒ+ chauvinists, take note!), but being in a relatively charitable mood today, I won't. =gd&r= [alert admin]

With limited HD space and a gazillion mp3 CDs, I've been looking for something like this for a VERY long time. Importing into iTunes is a great big time-consuming pain in the drain, and so is playing individual tracks in Get Info's preview. This little drag-and-drop gadget is great not only for playing albums as such, but also for batch double checking my own file conversions and compilations. On rare occasions, I do get the error message the last poster describes, but quitting and relaunching the app takes care of it. My only quibbles: [1] It plays tracks out of order - not good with multi-movement works. I listen mostly to classical music, and things like symphonies, suites, and Masses just HAVE to be played in track order. (The same applies to AOR classic rock, my other fave.) For some unknown reason it seems to play tracks in order of modify date as far as I can tell, and I haven't yet found a way to play them in track order. [Note to developer - or any other user, for that matter: Feel free to tell me if I'm blind in one eye and can't see out of the other 3.] [2] The interface can act pretty funky at times. Adding and deleting folders could be improved - usually it deletes the whole list instead of the individual folder I want to get rid of. [3] When I delete a folder/folders, it still shows the contents of the last folder played. (I could add a fourth, that it skips when something else is going on in Finder, but I suspect that's just my ancient overworked slow-dog G4/400.) #1 on my wish list for this app is a track-by-track on-the-fly volume adjustment (something iTunes tries to do but is pretty half-assed at it). But since this gadget seems to just string together a whole sequence of Get Info previews (very clever!), that may not be possible. No biggie, I can live with it. The upshot of all this: It's a good concept and a pretty good app, launches in nothing flat, and the price is definitely right. For simple playback, I use it instead of iTunes. (Haven't tried Audion so I can't comment on it.) Could use a few interface tweaks here and there, but what app couldn't? [alert admin]

I second that! I especially appreciate that it's such a tiny app, because I'm working on a grossly underpowered G4-400 (someone gave it to me stripped down to 384mb RAM but the price was right). A lot of what's out there is so bloated it takes forever to run and bogs down everything else in the process. This app WORKS and doesn't turn my whole Mac into molasses.

Is it just me, or did Aladdin's formerly excellent SW turn to crap the second Smith Micro touched it? I'm running OS X 10.4.10 on an ancient G4-400. On those (VERY) rare occasions when I have to deal with a prehistoric .sit file, I reboot into Classic (OS 9.2.2) and use Expander 5.1.4. Pain in the drain, but like I said, it's very rare that I have to do it, so I can deal........... I don't even…

You have a link to download a .xpi on the Mac
You can also right-click (or control-click [? it's been so long, I forget], for those who are still living in the Dark Ages with a one-button mouse) and save the .xpi file to disk, then use the Firefox plugin "MR Tech Local Install" to do the actual installation. I do this with all my FF plugins, in case one gets corrupted or I want to install it on someone else's confuser without needing to download it…

Won't open with StuffIt Expander?
I don't know what Allume did, but I've had no luck at all with Expander 10+. It crashed constantly, so I got rid of it and installed The Unarchiver. Works beautifully on just about anything you throw at it. You can get it here on VersionTracker.
