demo is very insufficient.  

Look we all no demos that limit use to 50 records, no saving, no printing but this one beats in all - no database import in a program that is supposed to convert and import databases. the demo is limited to their own database and the readme informs you about some warnings you might see and a non-working XML import. I do not doubt for a second that a program will work with its own ready made demo data. But of course you want to know whether it might save YOUR time with your database, right? So I looked up what it CAN import, right, XML (ok they said so...) and dbf. So I took care not to export more than 50 records (i used 20...) from a simple filemaker list containing names, adresses and phone numbers. Really 'complicated' task that is usually your 1st exercise in any database app. made it a dbf file that excel 98 and open.office opened without ANY complaint. yes I checked that later. First surprise: you have to move the demo data from the Cat folder, otherwise it won't find anything. that done, I restarted the program and was asked to open a data file. Well it does not recognise anything as readable .. so I tried ALL files. Exit Catbase, no error nothing. Thought I had missed something. Tried again, got rid of the phone numbers in the export file, only 4 fields now. Doesn't even hang. Just gone. no message. so this is why there is no rating for ease of use... Moral: I paid less for the whole filemaker. I think I'll stick to its export features and print to pdf. And Gluon's Table Maker if I really need a quark table. [alert admin]

you shouldn't list this joke.  

after reading the feedback I went to their site to get the free trial. So far I have tested Ciel and EBP, which are both total crap to use. SAGE is too expensive -15,000 Euro!!! (mouseclick for every line you add, no shortcuts - drives you nuts) So I need an alternative that I can adapt to the accounting numbers used here. Now these guys let you fill in their form to add you email adress to some SPAM database and that's it. http://www.appgen.com/cgi-bin/mb_html Because then you come to this dead link. Conclusion: There is no try before you buy. PLEASE do recommend a usable acoounting/invoicing/ordering system that works. It does not have to be freeware. It doesn't have to look good. BUT it must be functional and allow for imports and exports to databases. [alert admin]

Extensis Intellihance Pro 4.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Extensis has better software than this  

This is now the 6th or seventh, updated version I have downloaded since this toy appered on the market. I have paid and registered many Extendsis products in the past, but this one is quite useless. The de-duster does not work, the sharpener's results are overacting, colour corrections can turn out as level destroers and the noise reduction blurs, thats it. Balancing and leveling gives you much better results with Photoshop's own. So what is the point of this plugin? The scratch remover is the most useles of the lot, it will remove everything exept your dust. No matter how you set the sliders. Save your money, kudos to Extensis for letting you try everything for 30 days. Id rather spend that money on their useful siftware like the excellent photoframes, QX tools and I sincerely hope they will make an X version of their Phototools, some of these borders are unbeatable. ASM 2.1b5 (Mac OS X)

Is ASM pulling my leg?  

It claims to be shareware, but this is a bad joke. You download it , take it home (no internet connection available till end of May) , install it and then you get a stupid message »OH YES, even if you just want to try it you have to get a keycode. « It laughs at you, connects to the non-existing phone line and you are stuck with a useless menu. Congatulations, this is not only no Shareware, that is not evwen a Demo Version. In fact, that is Adware of the purest kind. Mind you, I have been happily paying FB and others for many years. Please go and learn from Filebuddy, Default folder or Behierarchic (and many many others ) how to offer a sharware product you happily pay for. [alert admin]
