Opera Mini 4.2 (Palm OS)

with WiFi on Sony Clie TH55? Anyone know?

It's not a phone, it's a Palm OS 5 PDA -- with wifi -- and a clunky old built in browser that doesn't have a lot of choices. Anyone know if Opera can be used? [alert admin]

Abandoned, unsupported, hoses files unsalvageably

It's dead. I've used it for many, many years, have a huge database file that I"ve kept in sync between the Mac (now Intel Mini, OSX 10.4.11) and a long series of Palm OS PDAs. The file on the PDA corrupted when the PDA battery died and corrupted the Mac file as well. Although you can still find the links to pay for the Palm version of Web Confidential online as of now, when I tried the Support link they told me -- this morning -- "Web Confidential for Palm OS is not available anymore and support has stopped." Anyone know another application that will sync successfully between Palm OS PDA and the Intel Macs under OSX? Ideally something that won't require retyping all the hundreds of records I've got in this dead dinosaur. [alert admin]

Actually 6.30 is out and DOES unstuff, at least

As of last night, a version 6.30 was available -- and this one DOES unstuff into an actual installable file under OSX 10.3.7, which is a real improvement. I can't say if it works yet, but at least it's possible. [alert admin]

Sony Clie SJ-30 -- memory fault; bug report bounced, too

First try -- and I may not be understanding this yet, it's not a simple app. But in trying it between a Visor Edge and a Sony Clie SJ30, the Visor seems happy, but the Clie always hung with a memory fault and reset itself before much had happened. I haven't yet gone to compare the two to see what if anything transferred; an attempt to email a bug report to the address in the docs bounced. So, I think this is promising, asssume it's the Clie that's the oddball here, and am hopeful. [alert admin]

No sign of v1.8; I did find v1.4 now at "Installigent"

A company named Installigent is now handling Listmaker, Listmaker Pro and Today, although they are current ly giving out applications that still refer back to Synergy. They sent me Listmaker (actually identified as v1.8 in the GetInfo, but Installigent identifies it as v1.79), and today v1.4 (no idea what happened to the more recent versions -- anyone have v1.8 for real?) I'm puzzled over Listmaker Pro -- Synergy told me that was the ir "version 2" and I paid the upgrade, just before Synergy disappeared. Installigent is providing something called Listmaker Pro but it's a v1.0 Windows application, an EXE file. I'm guessing they bought the Synergy apps and are just starting to figure them out. Synergy Solutions dissolved -- "installigent.com" has it now

I finally found Today (1.14) and Listmaker (docs say 1.79, but the app shows up as version 1.80) -- both are now property of something called www.installigent.com. Took six or seven months to find them, with very, very slow and grudging help from Palmgear.com -- installigent has a whole stable of titles, maybe swept up from dead companies entirely, I dunno. They did give me the software I'd long since paid for -- turns out it's still the old Synergy Solutions documentation, all the docs have dead links to synsolutions.com. So installigent apparently isn't exactly maintaining the apps, or even the docs. I'm still trying to find out what became of Listmaker Pro, for which I paid Synergy an upgrade fee. Has anyone ever seen that? Synergy sent me the invoice showing I'dpaid and a dead download link, just before they quit answering mail and their web page died. Ah, the wonders of living in the world after the Internet/Tech bubble burst. [alert admin]

SoftChaos

Dang. Something expired; I've had a paid copy of Workstrip for a very long time and kept updated. Now I'm getting popups the last two days saying that a second copy of Workstrip is running on my network so mine will be loaded with reduced features. No network here, just one Macintosh. I guess he left a time bomb in the software before he went out of business, by mistake? Anyone got a fix?
