HP PSC 2400 7.9 (Mac OS X)

Typical Software from HP

As is usual with drivers/software for the Mac from HP, this driver is absolutely terrible. It works intermittently, constantly loses track of the printer, and is an unnecessarily huge download (I mean, c'mon, 100Mb for a printer?) - the only reason I use it is because I didn't really have an alternative until I discovered that VueScan supports the HP scanner built into the printer just fine.

So, I would recomment skipping this download entirely, using the Mac OS X built-in drivers for printing, downloading VueScan for scanning, and the other function of the printer is basically its card-reader (which is natively supported by OS X anyway).

Device Support Gives Mixed Messages

I purchased and attempted to use this product for over four frustrating hours based on (1) Apple's web site (which lists support for my old Sony CliƩ PEG-S300), and (2) the Mark/Space web site (which asked, "Which Platform? Which OS? Which Device?" and when I chose PEG S-300, indicated I should purchase the Missing Sync). To this day, if you select an unsupported device, you will be told to purchase and download a product that does not support it. On their product support page, if you scroll all the way down to the bottom, it says "Unsupported Device" and lists yours. This is extremely confusing and should have been remedied. Their support was nice and refunded me, however they did say that they'd change their site and tell Apple to do the same. [alert admin]
