Apple Pro Application Support 2008-03 (Mac OS X)
if everything is for final cut, why needed for logic
I looked through the docs on update and wonder why I would want to test this when the only "pro app" I use is Logic towards which, it seems, none of the update applies though it is listed in affected applications; i wonder if there is more to the update than is stated or am i ignorant of some of Logic's dependencies? FTLCtimelines 0.9.5.6.07 (Mac OS X)
I advise anyone interested in this program to NOT buy a license for it at this time. I should have a new beta version of FTLC uploaded sometime in the relatively near future and for the time being it will have no restrictions (i.e. no need for license). The new beta will be probably little better nor worse than the current version though what changes it may contained are not yet finalized. [alert admin]

Hidden Expedition: Everest 1.0 (Mac OS X)
will not launch on my new macbook pro
I paid for it. However, while I get the program to launch on an old powerbook G4, on my new macbook pro it will not work. Same goes for the company's Ravenhearst program. Perhaps it's the graphics chip; I wouldn't hold it against developer if it's got a problem with the new machine (can't always program for the future in advance). I can't figure anything on my particular machine that would cause it, but I'm no expert. Using mac OS 10.4.10 (without security update). [alert admin]

Apple Xcode 2.4.1 (Mac OS X)
For dial up modem it's impossible to download for me...
It would be nice if you could order the update CD like you used to be able to at apple for about $20, or download the environment in smaller pieces, but I can find neither option at the apple developer's web site anymore. You can buy a subscription, but that's relatively expensive. Where I live, in the relatively third world, there's no high speed internet. [alert admin]

FTLCtimelines 0.9.5.3.00 (Mac OS X)
No indications of program launch (other than menubar)
I felt this change might cause confusion, but I went ahead with it anyway. As above in the "what's new in this version", the opening window (of choices) is no longer there. All you see is the menubar on program launch (and at other times when something new is started). I know it's not typical mac behavior. Open a file or create a new file and there will still be nothing there but the menubar. One must select a menu item to see or do anything: either show the timeline or (for a new file) enter a new record (event or span) or view the database or import an ical file, etc. Originally this was in case one wanted to start entering new records without waiting for a timeline graphic to be generated. Sorry for the confusion, and I'm not sure I like the change because it gives no up front stimuli that the program is launched (other than in the menubar): perhaps I'll change it back (or forward), but it's this way for now. Note: if the problem is other for quali or others than this above, then something is wrong (but I've seen nothing myself and quali would have to give me some info to get a handle on the problem). Curvus Pro X 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
will not mount, can not install
From the product promo it looks like this might be a good program (not since OS 9's graphing calculator has there been a great graphing calculator at a small cost for the mac as far as I've seen), and I appreciate the author's giving a part of the profits to seemingly worth while charities. But I downloaded it, tried to mount the disk image and it failed to mount: no checksum info, says the message. Disk utility says there is no checksum info to verify. A mystery to me, how to create the sum to check when it does not previously exist. Anyone else have this problem and/or solution, or am I missing something? (I punch the recommend button since the only other choice is not to and I'm not gonna do that on the above basis.) [alert admin]

FTLCtimelines 0.9.5.1.06 (Mac OS X)
From SchisaProductions: A user informed me that on program launch, the opening Demo/Registration window immediately disappears. The fix is at the update page of schisaproductions web site, which changes nothing else in this version. But to run the program in Demo mode, you are OK with this version. Also, to register the program with this version will work (try to save the sample file, the Demo/Register window will again open wherein one can register). I don't believe anyone needs to download the fix (it was an "oversight error" on my part). [alert admin]

FTLCtimelines 0.9.5.1 (Mac OS X)
response from schisaproductions
From schisaproductions: Below are responses to recent feedback which I appreciate. quali: 1) The crashes are disturbing to me: I would like to hear from you (and anyone with crashes) if it isn't a bother so I can track down what's going on (e.g. crash log text for FTLCtimelines from Library > CrashReporter folder as viewable in Console program). I haven't had any such crashes in development in a while so I need to be able to get a handle on what's what with it. 2) I'll look into exporting images to the native formats. As it stands, the thing that comes to my mind is copy&pasting the images into a program that does allow the creation of these files, but perhaps I'm incorrect. 3) This is the first time I've heard of HEML and I'm going to study said format since it seems to be relevant to FTLC (thanks for the link). LVWolfman: 1) The remark about dialog box buttons ("I'll shift the date") I consider, perhaps incorrectly, a subset of the issue of language localization (other than English) which I've not had the time to deal with. 2) I agree with the length of fields remark, would prefer maybe a "..." within long record names when appropriate (e.g "LLLLLongName" to "LLL....Name"). Hope to get around to this and other limitations in the program. 3) Regarding a Windows version, I'd like to do so, but my current circumstances provide no easy access to a Windows based computer on which to test the thing. FTLCtimelines 0.9.5.02 (Mac OS X)
I'm the guy who writes this program and I am sorry to hear that it is not working properly for these guys. I do appreciate the time it takes to make comments on it, and all the more the time it takes to try it out— especially if it doesn't work right. And I don't expect people to waste their time further, telling me what they've found wrong with it which should have been right in the first place. But, I am unfamiliar with the specifics of whatever problems these guys are having with the program and without feedback there is nothing I can do about it. [alert admin]

Installing Opera 9.5 breaks Adobe Bridge CS3
I had same problem with Opera and Adobe Bridge. Opera should try to rectify this as I like the browser but like using Adobe Bridge; can't understand why Opera support files should interfere with Bridge, but removing them allows Bridge to work.

From Developer: Program used to be shareware and i didn't want any purchases as free version was being released; program is now freeware for various reasons; could end up as shareware again (any previous license purchases would still be good).

Still can't create a new file...
I don't know what's going on, but from Quali's previous comment, i'll suggest this: After selecting New File menu item, select EventRecord menu item and enter some records in the Record Window (or do the same for SpanRecord), then choose Timeline menu item to see the resultant timeline. That's the sequence of events in the program. If, even when the proper sequence of events are followed, Quali can't create a timeline, then there is…

response from schisaproductions
Concerning native pdf, etc. While FTLC has employed vector graphics for all timeline(and circle) graphics since a few updates ago, I assume that printing and then saving the print as a PDF file (standard OS X print) isn't creating the quality you require (I don't know how the OS handles an applications pics under these circumstances, but I am guessing it treats pics as pics and does not generate raw PDF…

Thanks for the crash log. I would have gotten back to you sooner, but I've neglected to view these comments. The ATSUSetFontFallbacks messages leads me to suspect some font initialization trouble with FTLC (perhaps relying on the wrong information from the OS about fonts); i don't experience the crash, which makes me suspect the above again. In the most recent update, I've changed the way said initialization takes place, and if…

From Schisa Productions: The Demo Fix update has replaced this update but I haven't posted an update on Versiontracker. If your version info reads 0.6.5.1.06.1 then you have this update. If you were downloading the file during the Fix update's upload to my internet server, your downloaded FTLC file will be corrupted and will need to be downloaded again. Nov. 24 '03, 11:30 AM EST.
