If you install 10.4.4 the VersaVision is fixed. Apple broke it with 10.4.3. [alert admin]

ATI Displays 4.5.5 (Mac OS X)

This release is for all Radeon cards

As have the entire 4.5.x releases. I think OEM support first began with 4.2 and the 3D overrides. Newer releases have added compatibility for new retail and OEM cards as well as some previously retail only features creeping over to support OEM. 4.5.5 adds Versavision support to all Radeon cards (OEM or Retail) which have the necessary hardware support to handle it (Radeon 8500 and up) as well as 3D overrides and VV support for the X850 XT and I think the iMac G5s with Radeon 9600s. ATI Radeon 9200 124 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Retail only

As with ALL of ATI's ROM updates from their site, this is for Retail cards only. It will not affect OEM (built-in) cards at all no matter how many times one may try and run the updater. [alert admin]

DiskWarrior 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Problems creating the disk

I had some problems creating the new boot disk with the update. I have two burners hooked up to my system (a Superdrive and a 48x CDR burner) and the automated process would not allow me to burn the disk in either burner. Selecting the 48x burner would result in a disk I couldn't eject and no reaction from the update. Putting a CDR in the Superdrive resulted in a failed burn immediately. What I ended up doing was going to /private/tmp and moving the created disk image someplace safe before quitting the DiskWarrior updater. Then I burned it with Disk Utility with my Superdrive (my 48x burner still had a disk stuck in it). The resultant disk works great. So if anyone else has problems similar to mine, burn the created disk image with disk Utility. [alert admin]

ATI Radeon Display 4.2 (Mac OS X)

No drivers with this update.

This update does not include any drivers so it shouldn't affect your performance just by installing it. All it is is the Displays utility and the TVOut kext for cards that support it. Unless you have it run 4xFSAA in every single game it's not going to hurt performance by installing it. [alert admin]

ATI Radeon Display 4.2 (Mac OS X)

DVD Playback

10.3.3 introduced an issue with the DVD Player which only affect the retail version of the Radeon 9800 Pros. When playing a DVD movie, the Player shows a lot of graphical glitches. There's been one report I've seen of a 9600 showing the same problems. This update does not resolve it as it's just an update to the Displays CP and not to any drivers. [alert admin]

ATI Radeon Display 4.2 (Mac OS X)

Read the release notes

Please learn to read the release notes. This isn't a driver update. It's a ATI Displays utility update. This won't fix the DVD bug. The 4.2 release is mainly for enabling 3D Overrides for the rest of the retail (not OEM) Radeon cards, a feature introduced in the 4.1 release for retail Radeon 9800 Pro owners. [alert admin]

Not listed on MS site

I found the software last week when I was looking at this page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Browse.aspx?displaylang=en&categoryid=5 According to that list, the new 6.0 version of the IntelliType and IntelliPoint software was released on Feb 27, 2006. It looks like the major change is the exclusion of 10.0 and 10.1. I haven't seen a list of changes and the software doesn't look any different than 5.4. But I've only looked at the IntelliType software. I don't…

Dual G5 no longer boots

Did you previously install the 109 ROM released in May? If so, then technically, nothing major should have happened, but apparently something did... Have you tried flashing to the 104 ROM? It's possible that a preference is corrupt. Try dumping the ATI related preferences. Does your console.log say anything?

DO NOT USE THIS ON A OSX SERVER running 10.4

Do you have a retail card installed on your server machine? If not, you shouldn't have even installed the update since it wouldn't do anything for OEM video cards.

I will wait for Mac OS X 10.4.3 Update

The retail Radeon ROM updates won't affect OEM cards. These aren't driver updates. They're firmware updates. Apple rarely ever releases firmware updates for their OEM video cards. Most of the time, they're provided by Apple via a ROM in RAM method. The files are installed in /System/Library/Extensions/AppleNDRV as ATIDriver.bundle and ATIRuntimeDriver.bundle. The firmware on the video card gets loaded into RAM at runtime and then the bundles (for OEM…

LETS MAKE IT CLEAR

You might want to check your shift or caps lock key. I think it's broken. The ATI ROM updates from ATI's site have always been for retail cards. If you visit ATI's support site, it clearly states that this ROM update is for Retail Radeons. Under the Requirements: Retail RADEON Mac Edition graphics card (installed in AGP and/or PCI slot)

Have you downloaded it? I would assume so since you gave it a rating. If you haven't, why did you bother rating it without trying it?
