Camino 1.0a1 (Mac OS X)
The latest version of Camino is a beatifull and great browser that stands firm between the other giants like Safari and FireFox. In my opinion it just needs an RSS reader; I'm hooked to the RSS feeds in Safari (altough they're not implemented very well... so Camino-team... go get them!), the FireFox way of showing RSS is much more friendly I think... it's easier to browse quickly through al those (sometimes dozens) of newsitems. On the plus-side it has a ultra-great bookmark-system. I just loooove the shortcuts you can give to bookmarks. And I also love the bookmark-seperator... maybe a small thing, but it sure does help to keep my bookmarks clean and tidy. [alert admin]

GtkRadiant 1.5.0 (Mac OS X)
Haven't tried, but very happy it's finally here....
Years and years I've waited for a follow-up of the excellent 3D Quake-mapmaker by Scott Kevill (now famous for his 'Gameranger'-project). I thought it was called 'Quiver'. Not sure anymore.... I was really into that **** in those days. It simply kicked hiney back then. You could easily make great maps for the great Quake 1 and 2 engines... The program was really very nice. Nice GUI, well thought out. But it's been quiet since Scott moved to more commercial grounds... very quiet. Several websites were desperately waiting to see the lights of a new editor that would make Macintosh owners happy. And Mac-mapmakers (or should I say wanna-be mapmakers) were looking at GTK-Radiant for a Mac-port. Lots of people were busy trying to port it, but they kept bumping into several problems which simply stopped the whole port from coming out. Such a shame.... but look here.... a godsend for map-nerds like me. I just hope I haven't forgotten how to make maps anymore. I hope it's also fast enough for my PowerBook G4 12". Let's see tomorrow. :) Thank you guys at GTK-Radiant.... for all the effort. Here's one very happy soul!!!! [alert admin]

Quicksilver 1.0b42 (Mac OS X)
I can't say anything else... a 10 for functionality, a 10 for abbreviation-speed, a 10 for GUI, a 10 for slickness, a 10 for the speed in general. This application simply blew me out of my socks.
Just a few personal things/requests/tips:
- The whole modules/plugins thing is a bit unclear for people who enter this program for the first time... they both appear to be the same thing.
- Maybe all those choices in the preferences could have some rollOver-information. It's not always very clear what's what, and it's pretty anoying to open the help-file each time. It's especially unclear when you want to add new plugins... I've added like Safari and iTunes but I don't know exactly what extra functionality they will give. Just some extra info about the plugin directly in the preference-pane would be ideal.

Adium X 0.81 (Mac OS X)
I've tried them all.... Fire, Proteus etc. But this is 'the one' (like Neo was the one once :) ). Adium and all it's goodness like themes and per-person-soundtheme (love this one personally!) etc... is still the only one for me. I just love the sound-sets that you canNow wouldn't it be good to have some cool image-core effects (like the one when you drag a widget on the desktop) and wouldn't it be cool to... ah.... they're probably already working on stuff like this. :) Everybody should at least have tried this IM-client. Only problem I have is that file-transfer somehow doesn't work with 'Bonjour' and only rarely with MSN. [alert admin]

Butler 4.0b22 (Mac OS X)
I did try all the others and found out that Butler still is the nicest Launcher. It's silky-smooth and offcourse 'you can't beat the price'. I did have problems with the b21 version.... on rare occasions the abbreviations would take about 3 minutes to appear. After removing all the prefs etc. it worked fine again. I'm just a bit bummed about my shortcuts... I can teach Butler all those shortcuts again. Is there a nice way to make a HTML-file where all the user's shortcuts are on? There is an export HTML but it doesn't show the shortcuts. :) Further.... I like the speed and integration of searchable sites in Launchbar. It's seperate in Butler.... an integration would be super... just like Launchbar. Just type in 'ggl' for google, then press <SPACE> and you'll get a query-field to type what you're looking for. Ah well.... maybe the future 10.4 will open up more possibilities for the Launchers, like searching in Mail etc. [alert admin]

Xbox Live Friends 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
This program is awesome.... but although I like it's own notifier (when someone is online or offline) I think the bezel is a big too big for me... I like the 'bubble' notifier of 'Growl'.... can't the developer add 'Growl' support? That would rule!!!! [alert admin]

Transmit 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Can't say anything else.... it is the best ftp-program there is right now. I've tried 'm all. Polished, lubricated etc. I love the single-window style with the tabs, and I love the SSL function. This thing rules. There's even some new stuff that I have to find out about. Interesting... Panic..... you guys rock.... I just bought it :) [alert admin]

Butler 4.0b13 (Mac OS X)
I always love seeing a new version of butler on VT. There are a few bugs lately (especially with butler not updating my applicationfolders, and thus not showing them in the abbrevviation-window), but that seem to have been ironed out. Beautifull piece of software.... plug-ins? For developers? That would be great... I remember I had a small calendar in Butler... maybe an old thing from Another Launcher.... I can't find it anymore in the latest Butlers... [alert admin]

Trojan Wrangler 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Isn't it smarter if Anti-Virus companies started to make anti-virus software for future virusses? Virusses that were thought off by... an Anti-Virus company? I think it's super... staying ahead of the virus-writers.... :) I hate virusses, and I hate the facts that 'WE' (the victims) have to pay for stuff which the 'INDUSTRY' has made possible (computer-virusses). But he.... I know in what kind of age we're living in, so I'm very happy with anti-virus people thinking like they should. Kudos... This piece of software is a good example of taking away paranoia with people... Nothing wrong with that... [alert admin]

I really like Fire... I've just tried it again to see how it progressed over the months. A few months ago I've tried Fire to see how far it is compared to other IM-clients. But although it's a nice piece of software, Adium is the one to beat here. It's not a personal thing here, it's hardcore reality... Saying that Adium and others are far uglier than Fire is just nonsense. Saying that anyone who's…

I've made some mistake by saying there's an info-button missing... it's there... I just didn't see it somehow. I guess I'm a bit spoiled by Apple's interface. :) I wish versiontracker would let you revise the original comment/review.

I agree with the fact that Websearch is extremely cusomizable in Butler.... and yes... :) I use it all the time too... it's just that (lazy bum that I am) I'd like to see everything underneath 'ONE' shortcut key... like Launchbar. I use ctrl-space for abbreviations... and ctrl-command-W for websearch. But you're absolutely right.... It's there. My comment is just a small thingy I'd like to see changed.... hardly mentionable, because it's a personal preference.…

Exactly the same feeling that I have. Proteus rocked for a while, but today there is nothing... again...."NOTHING" like the beauty that is called 'Adium'. Adium is a very natural Cocoa app. Can't be happier with adium!

I think Skype is pretty darn Cool. In terms of usability and design. Offcourse things can always be better, but I'll bet them Skype-dudes know that. Having no taste is a *censored* isn't it?

It always sucks if a program hangs your computer. I've got a 600Mhx iBook here and I've had the same problem. Somehow after the reboot, it works.
But telling the world that you lost work while installing this (pretty tough on the system) software is not very smart. That simply means you installed the product while having other applications open with unsaved work. :)
Sorry to say, but that's really stupid!
