Battery Health Monitor 1.4 (Mac OS X)
"Unable to read battery status data"

iPod Notes 1.0 (Mac OS X)
It doesn't respect the 4kB limit for notes size on iPods. Larger notes will get truncated. One would think that an application specialized on iPod notes would take care of that and maybe split the notes into smaller files if necessary. [alert admin]

NewsFire 1.4 (v69) (Mac OS X)
I don't see why a program that simple should require 10.4. Lame. [alert admin]

VLC media player 0.8.6a (Mac OS X)
ver. 0.86a is the exception, though - crashes all the time. Finally gave up and reverted to 0.86. Enhanced security is one thing, but I need a working application. [alert admin]

Split&Concat 2.5 (Mac OS X)
... I (as a registered customer who actually paid for the application) reported a problem and asked for help (sent email on July 7, 2006), but the developer never responded. Lame. [alert admin]

FLV Viewer 0.4 (Mac OS X)
First I'd like to express my appreciation for developing in this field for OS X and making a dedicated Flash movie player. However, all people who experience stuttering and lagging after some time with this player, try VLC 0.8.5. Even though it gives an error message when opening .flv movies, it plays them just fine and smoothly even on my 400 MHz G3. I've got no idea how they achieved this, while all other players, incl. FLV player and XinePlayer stutter or have problems with the audio. It just works :-) [alert admin]

Mac2FAT 1.2 (Mac OS X)
It doesn't rename files. It says it does, but it doesn't. [alert admin]

Paparazzi! 0.4.3 (Mac OS X)
Looks nice so far, only that I do need to be able to capture the complete website including Flash content (as much as I despise Flash), and it would be nice (but probably too much to ask) if Paparazzi could utilize rendering engines other that KHTML. I must test on Gecko, Tasman, Presto etc. as well. [alert admin]

Separator 0.6.1 (Mac OS X)
Very good program. The only one I'm aware of that can show the resource forks of all data files. Little interface glitch in the right column when dragging the devider between the column, but nothing that would stop the show. [alert admin]

Universal version requires 10.4 also on PPC. You want the PPC-only version available here: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dosbox/DOSBox0.65-MacOSX-PPC.dmg?download

Thanks for your quick response. I don't have the time to do troubleshouting right now - I need something that works right away - but I'm going to go into this later.

If you oncorporate third party stuff in an app without sufficient testing, the app isn't mature.

This bug has been fixed in 1.7 RC2. It looked like a copyright issue but was really a download error prompt window (Mac users cannot see the title bar of this windows because Moz uses sheets coming instead of windows for error messages on the Mac).

This is not a bug, it just says that the permissions of this file (cd...) are hard-coded and cannot be overwritten by DiskUtility. It actually tells you that your Mac is working correctly. Don't worry about it.

fixing permissions before & after install will do. no need to boot in single user mode. people who don't lknow what they're doing will do more harm than good. if you're worried about the integrety of your startup volume you can boot from install CD1 and run disk utility from the installer menu.

hmm, I looked through the prefs, but didn't find a way to switch it off. I used the same profile (and therefore same prefs) in 1.7b & 1.7rc1 and tested the same websites, so there must be something different in 1.7rc1. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
