Right Zoom 1.61 (Mac OS X)

Slowing down my system

I like the function oft this app (missing it 20 years on MacOS), but unfortunately it's slowing down the responsiveness of my System (10.5.6) and especially the responsiveness of Eudora 6.2 on keyboard input or mouse click. May be some incompatibility with my other login items (Spark, AutoHide) which are more important for me. One User Report on MacOS X Hints claims also incompatibility with One Finger Snap. ForgetMeNot 4.2 (Mac OS X)

Alternative

The instructions below made Forget Me Not working. Searching for a replacement for AcidSearch I found Glims: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/34506 Glims has also implemented - beside of several other useful functions - the function of Forget Me Not. [alert admin]

AcidSearch 0.62 (Mac OS X)

Finally a substitute available...

I used AcidSearch for several years. Since it's not updated any more and made Safari 2 and 3 crashing, I tried Inquisitor and SafariStand (which I disliked) and now I finally found Glims: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/34506 Glims works very well - substitutes ForgetMeNot, MegaZoomer (what Safari is concerned) and AcidSearch (or Inquisitor). And there are a lot more useful functions. [alert admin]

Glims 1.0 beta 12 (Mac OS X)

Substitutes many Plugins

Works very well - substitutes ForgetMeNot, MegaZoomer (what Safari is concerned) and finally (!!!) AcidSearch (or the much less usefull Inquisitor). I really like the functions 'Show Favicon on tab label' and 'Maximize Window'. Really a indispensable tool. [alert admin]

Eudora 8.0.0b5 (Mac OS X)

Getting better

I installed version 8.0.0b4 in my MacBookPro running Tiger: Import of my different mailboxes and address books and my settings worked without problems. Items I miss from the Classic Eudora are time queued sending of messages and signatures (probably I have to use templates to get a similar result). HTML rendering and character encoding problems - the biggest disadventages of the classic version - are forgotten now. And I really like the option to open messages in tabs and the much more powerfull address auto completion. I only had a problem with opening my attachments. Despite toggling between settings a word doc for example had to be saved to disk first and then manually be opened from there. After installing 8.0.0b5, this problem has disappeared. BTW, running the classic version and the new thunderbird based version of Eudora side by side is no problem. [alert admin]

iCab X 4.0 (Mac OS X)

Speed is incredible

I downloaded this app, imported my Safari bookmarks and just tested a view sites I visit daily. This browser which I used last time on MacOS 9 is fast, really fast. Kudos to the developer. [alert admin]

gmxContacts 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Works as advertised

Did import 120 entries from my Apple Addressbook to my gmx web address book. As described the free version only imports the email addresses, no phone numbers and postal addresses [alert admin]

flvThing 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Use MPlayer

Instead of installing another application like this app, you can use MPlayer to play FLV Files. MPlayer (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27163) plays almost any movie format. [alert admin]

SWF Movie Player 2.0.13.1878 (Mac OS X)

MPlayer for simple FLV playback

You can also use MPlayer (Freeware) to play FLV movies. Use the right version of Mplayer: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27163 [alert admin]

Saving to older versions

osos10, you can not save to older formats via the save as command, but you can use the command 'reduce file size' and then specify the compatibility (pdf-version). This will show the intentional effect.
