Transmission 1.72 (Mac OS X)
Upon finishing download, transfers still switch to 'seed forever' despite reaching upload limit.
For months now Transmission nightlies and stable builds will switch a transfer to 'seed forever', no matter that it reached it's upload limit before downloading was finished (I tend to be able to upload faster than I can download). Bug reports have been ignored insisting that I must purchase screen video capture software and make a video of this occurring before I will be believed by Transmission developers. Sorry - I'm not going to buy software for one time use. Also 'check for update' remains broken many months after this was reported. [alert admin]

Transmission 1.42 (Mac OS X)
Very slow downloads, all upload bandwidth allocated to only one torrent :-( ![]()

For the longest time I used only Transmission and I had assumed that my very slow and yo-yoing download speeds were the fault of my ISP. I thought this was as good as it got with BitTorrent. Boy was I ever wrong. Approx. a month ago I tried out the brand new Mac port of µTorrent. Even being very beta quality software it is on average 10x faster than Transmission at getting torrents downloaded. I switched back and forth for several weeks between the two clients using the exact same torrents - it's no fluke. I even tried the old official BitTorrent client and the ageing Tomato Torrent - both were MUCH faster than Transmission and on par with µTorrent. Now if it was just speed I might even stick with Transmission while µTorrent's bugs are ironed out. Transmission's UI and feature set are so much better, and Tomato Torrent - which works well - cannot selectively download part of a multi-file torrent. That feature is also buggy in µTorrent. But sadly Transmission began a couple months ago to allocate all it's upload bandwidth to just one torrent 95% of the time, with predictable negative performance results for the neglected torrents. This has made Transmission almost impossible to use, and the refusal by the developers to even continue to discuss the issue does not inspire confidence in an eventual resolution. As a result my recommendation has to be to avoid Transmission for the foreseeable future - and that's a damn shame :-( [alert admin]

Transmission 1.42 (Mac OS X)
µTorrent in comparison to Transmission:
Fast, _much_ faster downloads than I could get with Transmission. On par with Tomato Torrent. Unfortunately (and understandably for a beta of a brand new Mac port) the UI needs work, features are limited, and there are many bugs - including one particularly annoying one where you cannot selectively download part of a multi-file torrent even if you've more than enough space for just that part. Right clicking also does not select an item so I'm constantly bringing up a contextual menu for the wrong item. Still, µTorrent shows great promise and is an excellent effort for an app so new to the Mac. Once the bugs are ironed out I can see it replacing Transmission as my main BitTorrent client. Emulator Enhancer 2.3 (Mac OS X)

I really do not understand the negative comments by others that I see here. Every time I've emailed Richard I get a response within 24 hours and he practically upholds emulation on the Mac single-handedly. Emulator Enhancer is a small price to pay to gain extra functionality in the excellent emulators Richard has developed/ported. A VERY small price *dark look at the whingers* That said I would like more video modes in EE, better help files (that goes for all of Richard's software) and, though this isn't an EE problem - it would be great if the keyboard setup in his emulators had more than just icons - maybe tootips when you mouse over them? It was sometimes difficult working out which icons corresponded to certain buttons/keys. Still - those are minor niggles with otherwise great software :-) [alert admin]

Nestopia 1.4.1 (Mac OS X)
How do I "set disk card" with FDS games?
I'm stuck with "PLEASE SET DISK CARD" on the screen and cannot go any further with two FDS games I've tried (one being the FDS SMB 2, a.k.a The Lost Levels). Does anyone know how to progress past this point? There is no help in the readme other than the comment "Switching disks in FDS emulation was inadvertently broken right before the 1.09 release. Fixed. ". Pity it doesn't tell me HOW :-( TIA, Jamie Kahn Genet [alert admin]

Mail Act-On 1.3.2 (Mac OS X)
I am REALLY tired of hearing the error beep
I am REALLY tired of hearing the error beep when mysteriously Act-On decides it won't work. I then have to click on the message AGAIN and invoke Act-On AGAIN for it to work (hopefully). Also sometimes I will be moved in a mailbox to the message beginning with the letter I just typed instead of having Act-On work. [alert admin]

OmniWeb 5.7 is weirdly like 1.0 version software. It's buggy, some features are just plain broken and boy do I see that spinning beachball a lot :-( I really regret having paid good money for it. I _REALLY_ regret not having tested it better before buying. Instead I took too much notice of it's positive reviews (which I'm now shaking my head over. Did you TEST OmniWeb at ALL MacWorld? Mac|Life?) and bought OmniWeb almost immediately. Very silly of me - I admit that. Examples of my troubles: OmniWeb crashes every few hours, permission to use keychain entries are not remembered if another program originally created them, I'm asked if I want to save my passwords for webforms EVERY single time (regardless of whether I say yes or not), OmniWeb gets very slow with large numbers of tabs open (spinning beachball's are starting to invade my dreams - arrrgh!), form autofill of name, address, phone number, etc is very poor (99% of forms had to be completed manually even though their fields were clearly labelled "Phone", "Address", etc), changes to shared bookmarks are not always saved (and my iDisk has a local copy so that should NEVER happen, it's not having to save them across the net. Just to a LOCAL volume!) and no error message is given to warm me there has been a problem. So I'm back using Camino nighty builds and MUCH happier. Camino might not be as pretty or nice to use - but it WORKS. OmniWeb simply doesn't far too frequently. It's a damn shame :-( [alert admin]

No, I'm now not the only one to report this. I had a reply to my forum post (though unfortunately long after stopped watching) stating they had experienced the same issue. Plus I note someone below stating they experience this issue, or possibly a very similar one. Either way - it may not be much, but at least one other person who read my Transmission forum post has this issue - which still exists as…

Ok, versiontracker is also broken. I get an error that I was unable to copy (???) - I just got the error beep instead. Then it turns out my post was successful after all. Wow - is everything I'm touching turning to crap now?

What on earth where you having trouble with??? I've been using MacSOUP for seven years and had no trouble setting it up back then, or any time afterwards. The manual IMHO is quite explicit about setup.

Hey there Tom :-) Yes, I did try to email you a few several weeks ago - no reply. But I did receive your email (in response to my comments here) yesterday, so cheers for that.
