Apple Mac OS X Intel 10.4.8 (Mac OS X)
So I installed the update. Now my MacBook Pro 17" won't boot off the internal HD. I get the black box error. I can boot off my external backup drive. I downloaded the Combo 10.4.7 and Combo 10.4.8. 10.4.7 would not install because it thinks 10.4.8 is there. I installed the 10.4.8 combo again and still have the same problem. How can I make the drive so I can install 10.4.7? Can I delete something? Can I get the disks that came with the Mac to install the original OS version? HELP!!! [alert admin]

I got it to complete by deleting a folder called "Stuffit Standard 9.0". But like the other comments, I see no difference in the get Info. I think the updater readme could be more specific and say the version information is not updated.

I'm having the same problem. I have 9.0.1 (verified by Get Info), but the updater will not recognize it. Does it need to be in a specifiic folder location?
