MainMenu 1.7.3 (Mac OS X)

problem with latest version

Maybe it's just me, but since I installed the latest version, it refuses to open when clicked on. This was just a minor annoyance, now happening more frequently. I have had to restart to get it to work right or at all if I want to use anything in it. It's my main source for empting the trash securely. It also freezes the menu bar. I use it on my iBook G4, 10.4.11 PPC. I love the program and wouldn't be without it so I'm going back to the last version which worked without fail for me. Maybe it has to do with Leopard. I don't know, but won't be upgrading for a long while yet, so I have to make everything work with what I have. The developer suggested starting the app directly from the applications folder-did that, no luck, logged out, back in, no luck, restart whole laptop-viola. [alert admin]

Startrail 1.5 (Mac OS X)

Very pretty, but freezes the screen

I loved the idea of using this for my mouse. In fact, it worked so well that it took over my whole screen and I couldn't for the life of me escape it and get back to my screen. I was unable to get to the preferences, my menue bar was gone as well as the dock. All I could see every time I moved that d*** mouse was those stars. It acted more like a screen saver that wouldn't budge rather than something that was supposed to trail the mouse. I'd like to know how to make it work as intended on my iBook G4 (tiger). Perhaps the deve has some thoughts on this. [alert admin]

Custom Icon Calendar 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Couldn't open!

After down loading and installing, I couldn;t get the darn thing to work. There was little to no instructions on how to install or what to do with it. To bad, because I really wanted to use this sostware, it showed promise as well. Let's see what the new version does differently. [alert admin]

Whisher 1.0 build20070305166 (Mac OS X)

Somewhat decitful/misleading details

If one goes just on what the developer wrote on VT, one wouild think that it's just an additional wifi connection-as presented here. Once I downloaded, open and installed this application discovered that it's actually more like a chat program that will allow one to chat w/people all over the world. Of course, one has to do the work to fill in the information and physically subscribe to Whisher. I wish the developer had supplied more detailed information about exactly what the product is and/or does. I would liked to have known more about this application prior to downloading it. Why should I waste my time with this especially since I ended up trashing it after I discovered that what I had downloaded was not as it was portrayed here? [alert admin]

Sparkle 1.0 beta 3 (Mac OS X)

Just one little problem....

The only problem that I see is that the update may not agree with one's user system. As you may know, some folks have upgraded to Tiger, but many are still using Panter as myself. So, if a new version comes out and it's only for Tiger, how will this benefit the user still using Panther? It would just be a useless download and the user will have no contol over whether to permit it to begin downloading or not. This could cause some to have problems and/or crashes if the user isn't aware that the update is for 10.4X or 10.3X. I have had this many times happen on VT and applications that tell me a newer version is avaible where I have downloaded that "newer" version only to find out it's for 10.4X and caused some minor problems with my system. So, maybe some more thought should go into to this idea before released to the public at large. [alert admin]

HimmelBar 2.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Addendum

Question: why can't I get the option of using the last folderl lets say for my documents? I can't seem to get the customized folder to work or add anything to this so I can look up anything but applications/utilites. [alert admin]

HimmelBar 2.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Tendency to crash to often

I enjoyed using this software, however, it has a tendency to crash too much. I'm not sure why. I'm using on power mac G4 10.3.9. I don't have to force quit, but a reboot always sets things right again. Maybe a little more stability would help. [alert admin]

Pause 2.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Causes major crashes on my Mac

After downloading "Pause" it took me awhile before I actually used it. When I needed it to work, it consistently crashed, froze my screen and had to force quit. I had to do this so many times that I gave up and out it went. Too bad to because I thought that it had great potential to work for the job I needed it for. I was using it on my G4 powermac @10.3.9. As a result, I ended up having to zero out my hard drive and reinstall all my start up disks all over again. Can't recommend at this time, sorry. [alert admin]

Dockyard 1.6 (Mac OS X)

Has potential but needs some tweeking!

I loved previous versions of Dock yard. It was one of the most useful apps that I had for switching between multiple docks. And as a college student, that was wonderful for me keeping my college stuff all on one dock. Now, this version didn't work as good for me. After I had all my docks set up, I realized that I had made some errors and was unable to move them around in order, and it wouldn't let me delete a specific "dock" that I had clicked on. In fact, it wouldn't recongnize my other docks and kept bringing up the "default" dock which I had already renamed. I think it's still somewhat buggy. But it would list all the items on the specified dock, just not change to it when I clicked on it. And as the previous reviewer states, I had similar problmes as well. Sorry. [alert admin]

Imagine BootX 2.4 (Mac OS X)

Oh, How I love this!!

There's nothing like making one's Mac truely unique! I love having the ability to customize the boot image with one of my own personal pictures. It can't be any better than that. It's very easy to use, simple, straight forward. You'll love this application folks especially if you want to use one of your favorite jpg, tiff pictures etc. You can save them in the Bootx file in the library and switch back and forth if you tire of one, use another one from the file. It's that simple. Very easy to use. [alert admin]

Causes major crashes on my Mac

In response, I used the most recent version of the application. However, I never received any error messages, the screen just froze every time I brought "Pause" up to use it with every browser I use. It happened with every one of them. I don't know why this kept happening. However, in all honesty, I can't say 100% that "pause" caused me to have to zero out my hard disk. …

Uninstalling: Yeks, and thanks a lot

Yeah, I didn't know that was the exact problem that prevented me from using system update. I couldn't get that port (8090) to do anything for me. It (TA) blocked everything no matter what browser I used from firefox, Mozilla, and Camino. However, after I got a kernal panic, my login screen froze, I ended up doing an archive and install. The TA update wasn't included, now everything is working great…

Thanks

thanks for the heads up. I love sea shells and anything related to the ocean. This saves me frustration at having to download this only to find out it's not free. Thanks again. Very useful information.
