BackUp Pro 1.8.2 (Palm OS)

Slow, but works well.

I've only used the free version. It's worked well and does what I want, but is slow. On my Palm, when I click on the backup to card button, the app seems to freeze. The info "i" stops rotating. It would be nice if some progress indication was given. It takes the app so long to get ready to do the backup that the Palm turns off as soon as the progress bar comes up. I have to remember to turn it back on so the app can perform the backup. It would be nice if the app were faster getting ready, or at least show some indication that it isn't frozen. It would be very nice if the Palm didn't power down just as the backup was going to start. [alert admin]

Garmin MapInstall 2.0.0.1 beta (Mac OS X)

Worked great

This is a dream come true for me. I have a Garmin iQue with a 1 Gig SD card. Every time I need to travel I need to add maps and remove the maps from the last trip. I have a PC, but it is so old that I usually borrow a PC at work to change my maps. I'd really prefer to load maps from my Mac. Mapinstall allows me to do this. I borrowed a work pc one more time and converted all my maps, sent them to my Mac, and can now change the maps on my GPS all I want. For me, this works perfectly. [alert admin]

The Restaurant Game 1.9.1 (Mac OS X)

1.9.1 fixed all my issues

Runs great on my 2 Macs and looks pretty cool. I had some crash issues with other versions, contacted the developer, got very good responses. [alert admin]

iRecord 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Painful beep

Upon startup, iRecord played some sort of beep sound. Although my volume setting was at around 25% this sound played at full volume. It was surprising, painful, and I hope my speakers survived. I'm sure glad I wasn't using headphones. Looks like the app might be useful if you don't get your speakers (or your ears) blown out. [alert admin]

CardTXT 0.7 (Palm OS)

Very usable

CardTXT does exactly what it says it does. You can create and edit plain text files on the expansion card. No conversion necessary. If you have a way to mount your expansion card on your big computer, this is a very simple easy way to move files back and forth. No HotSync required, no drivers or other software to worry about. I did get it to crash once, but since then it's been very well behaved. Looks great on my 320x480 screen. Install the optional small font package to get even more text on the screen. [alert admin]

iQue Conduit 1.0 (Mac OS X)

This product rocks

It does what it is supposed to do. Simple to use and stable. I love being able to get my tracklogs from the iQue so easily! [alert admin]

TopoDraw 0.2 (Mac OS X)

Yah, it rocks.

I already love this more than I used to love GPSy under OS9. How wonderful it is to be able to open a map and just drag GPS data onto it for charting. It does not yet support USGS calibrated Topo maps. You can convert the maps manually, but it's a bit of a pain. This is the single biggest missing feature for me. I have thousands and thousands of USGS topo quads on CD. The few that I have converted by hand have worked well. TopoDraw handles the huge files very well. [alert admin]

Link2GPS 0.3 (Mac OS X)

Yah, it rocks.

I alredy love this product more than I used to love GPSy under OS9, and it's only just begun. A few rough edges, but very stable and gets the job done. I used to have to go to the PC to do odd things like modify the saved tracks on my eMap, but no more. I typed up 2 new waypoints in XML and dropped the file onto Link2GPS. Wham. They were uploaded perfectly. [alert admin]

FMSync for JFile X 2.1d5 (Mac OS X)

2.1d5 Rocks! You…

can no longer crash the HotSync manager by trying to configure FMSync from within Palm Desktop. It just pops an error explaining not to do that there. Upload works! It produces a txt file that when dropped onto FileMaker turns into a database. FMSync can now launch FileMaker and open the databases it wants to sync. [alert admin]
