Alarm Clock 2.4.5 (Mac OS X)
This is very well thought out and well done. However, when first waking the computer from sleep, it takes a good 10 seconds before you hear the alarm. And if you've chosen music from iTunes, your track is already 10 seconds into it by the time you start hearing it. AND, if you're one of those people like me who requires authentication to wake from sleep/come out of screen saver, etc.... after the computer times out because you have now not manually logged in, the computer goes back to sleep, and your alarm stops. So, really, you'll get about 5-10 seconds of the alarm before it stops and goes into it's snooze mode. Then it starts again after the snooze time has passed. If there were a fix for this, this would be hands down the best alarm clock for the Mac. I'm still giving it 4 stars because not all or even many users require a password like I do. But I'm on a laptop, so that's how I do it, for security purposes. BTW, I am on a Macbook 2 Ghtz, Core 2 Duo running 10.4.11. [alert admin]

iPhoto Diet 3.1 (Mac OS X)
Love the app, hate the damage it did..... ![]()

I first used this app 2 years ago and it seemed to work fine. But then, I experienced the same problems as most other users. I ended up wit LOTS of pictures that only displayed as "!" inside a big outlined grey box when trying to view them full size. The thumbnails are fine, but clicking the thumbnail to see the larger view was a no-go. The good news is, is that the pictures are all still on your computer, in your iPhoto folder. You have to copy the file (picture's) name and paste it into a Spotlight search. Then, when Spotlight brings it up, drag it into iPhoto right where it should be. Then delete the other one (that brings up the "!"). It's a hassle, but it's a fix. Now, I wrote the developer, asking when there would be an update. He responded right away. (I was surprised, because a lot of people were saying he doesn't respond and was slacking. So, here is my email to him, and his response. I hope this helps anyone out there looking for answers. Me: "Are you updating this app? It seems to really screw up libraries. It's a great app, but if you're not doing anything with it, please take it sown at this point. It hasn't worked in years. Thanks. VocalVirgo" Him: "Hi Virgo, Yes, I am working on an update for iPhoto 7. Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with the current version of iPhoto Diet; unfortunately, the use of GUI Scripting (a technique that iPhoto Diet uses to remove unwanted originals) appears to be causing major problems for some users, while for others it works without a hitch. I am revisiting the code to see if I can replace GUI Scripting with any other method; unfortunately, the limited programming interface provided by iPhoto doesn't seem to present any other options. I will keep the iPhoto Diet web-page updated as things progress. All the best, Martin" [alert admin]

Address Book to CSV Exporter 1.3a (Mac OS X)
It's creepy how good this little app works. It takes like 4 seconds to do 170 contacts. I have no problems getting Gmail to import the file. I guess Gmail messes up for some users? I don't think it has anything to do with this app. Anyway, GREAT app! [alert admin]

This is a GREAT piece of software! It would have done everything I need it to do, but it doesn't work with 10.4/Intel. The set up/preferences part was a super breeze and then when it was time to run it..... (and I was exited because Apple doesn't give you any of these great and necessary options, and it really would have taken a load off...) NADA. It came back saying that it "Failed to Save....." just like everyone else on here said. It's really a shame that the developer just quit this. Even the shareware apps don't do as much, and as easily as this. DEVELOPER: UPDATE! [alert admin]
