Adobe Flash Player 10.0.1.218 (Mac OS X)
...to UNINSTALL Flash Player BEFORE installing this version, as per the Flash Player 10's website instructions. It's also good to do between 9.x updates... but we all know that, right? Working fine for me here with Minefield/Firefox4.0a1 MDD G4 10.4.11 Peace. [alert admin]

OpenOffice.org 2.4.0 (Mac OS X)
I followed the link and saw a download option for the PPC version as well–they may have a CPU-detecting script for the web client. Peace. [alert admin]

OpenOffice.org 2.4.0 (Mac OS X)
Every build of OpenOffice.org is slower than NeoOffice
...but I keep trying them. The last development build of OpenOffice.org Aqua build available for PPC as well (English, French and German) has a March 14 build: ftp://ftp.solnet.ch/mirror/OpenOffice/extended/ooomisc/MacOSX/ there's a subdirectory with an Intel-only Leopard-only build it seems-build date April 16. I'll be sticking with NeoOffice over OpenOffice but I'm simply elated to have such non-Microsloth options. [alert admin]

Firefox 2.0.0.13 (Mac OS X)
I was snooping around Mozilla's public download directories and ran into a download for Firefox 4.0 alpha 1. Ging to check it out now... after backing up my chrome files n stuff... http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2008-04-01-14-mozilla-central/firefox-4.0a1pre.en-US.mac.dmg [alert admin]

ScummVM 0.11.1 (Mac OS X)
http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=579019 BTW I've used this with Sam & Max and Day of The Tentacle... awesome. Reminds me of my old Performa 630CD days – maxed out with a 32MB SIMM which left me with a whopping 36MB RAM! I forgot if it had 2MB or 4MB VRAM... anywayyys.... Peace. [alert admin]

Apple Security Update 2008-001 (Mac OS X)
If my experience might end up being typical of this installer I'd recommend patience because it stalled near the beginning and halfway through but was successful in installing and restarting and yadda yadda... [alert admin]

LimeWire X 4.16.3 (Mac OS X)
Anything new in these successive updates or are the update sites being used as free advertising? I know in the "x.y.z" nomenclature of software updating the first alphanumeric spot is for the Major Version Number, then the Minor Version Number and Bugfix Version... but when there's no feedback beyond a numerical change and no apparent change in the program... Meh. I just don't use it anymore. [alert admin]

Cyberduck 2.8.3 (Mac OS X)
Using built-in installer oddity...
I used the built-in update feature of the software and it seemed to remain indefinitely on the progress bar, I simply quit the program and it continued to relaunch and all seemed fine afterward. Just letting you know... peace. [alert admin]

Every build of OpenOffice.org is slower than NeoOffice
I made my post before trying OpenOffice.org 2.4.0 and NeoOffice. I think OOo is slightly faster this time around, but on the few LTR documents I opened between the two I noticed NeoOffice rendered them better and it's my only reason for keeping NeoOffice over OOo.

Making old add-ons work; Type "about:config" in the address bar, right-click to create a new Boolean variable "extensions.checkCompatibility" and set to "False". I haven't many add-ons but they all seem to work! ...and it's still faster than Firefox 2.x PEACE!

I noticed that as well. The only common factors I've usually found is that I Cmd-Q while a video is playing–more often a WMV file than other formats.

The program's author makes clear via your own quoting [of said program's author] what the expected limitations of this software are but not limited to. You are making a logical connection but I believe that's why the [author's] words are chosen so carefully. God knows best.

I can only assume that, as with most internet data throughput, there's error correction/doublechecking data (checksums).

Installing CUPS after OS X 10.3.x is more likely to hose your ability to print than to help. Admittedly it was very useful pre-OS X 10.4.x but not now... there are too many horror stories of people having to reinstall their OS after installing CUPS now since its built-in to the OS and the CUPS programmer works for Apple.

Installed this freeware antivirus (ClamXav) on my Mac and bro's PC laptop–fast, free and updates quicker than Symantec anything. Symantec on my bro's computer also required I download Symantec and MS updates, restart a few times and when all was done the Auto Update doesn't work because it requires ANOTHER Symantec product and took my bro's comp 3x longer to boot and made everything sluggish! Not worth the experience... Clam also got the best review…

"Removed nonfunctioning Ultralingua.net dictionaries."
lol ...no really, I paid up. :) This thing really is a neat program... I really bust my butt for my little income so I have to be convinced something is highly novel in the realm of utility–foreign language vocabulary building(?)–before I ante up. Anyone even considering another language might really want to check this out as part of his or her Learning Arsenal... IMHO. —Peace
