Getleft 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Insufficient css analysis

Nice application, does its job really exhaustive, but lacks of essential css analysis. When css support is completely implemented, I would give 5 stars. So I will wait for the next version... [alert admin]

iCab X 4.0.1 (Mac OS X)

The best is getting even better.

As for beeing a registered user, I had the opportunity to trace the evolution by downloading all the "in between" steps to Version 4.0.1. - But thats only one thing I like on iCab. Since Version 4.0 iCab has become my standard browser becaus it's faster than Safary and Camino, more stable and with some really nice features like the "Download Manager", the "Form Manager", the "Filter Manager" and support for the new "Web Inspector" feature of the latest WebKit framework, which even Safari 3 doesn't support. My recommendation is: Try it, give iCab a chance, and my prediction is: You will like it. [alert admin]

Sunrise 1.5.9 (Mac OS X)

I'm really impressed!!!

The last version I loaded was 1.4.9 and there was a bug I reported to the developer: When saving a webarchive of a website made use of stylesheets (with @import) and background images (of layers), then neither the stylesheets nor the background images were included. This bug is fixed now!!! I don't know in which version (between 1.4.9. and 1.5.9) but it works great and even Safari can show these webarchives. That's amazing, since Safari still has this bug (I reported it repeatedly to Apple with every new version/update) Great work! Ulrich S. Kapp [alert admin]

Server Monitor 1.0.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Not really free software

This Dashboard Widget itself may be free, but you need to get an account at the Root Internet company's website. And this account isn't free at all. There's a free one, but only for testing purposes. So this is only an addition to their online monitoring service. I think there's no right to call such a software freeware, because the software lacks of essential functionality to work without any cost for the user. Ulrich S. Kapp [alert admin]

Validator S.A.C. 0.5.0 (Mac OS X)

A little bit slow...

...even when validating a local file. But it works reliable in cases you don't have an internet connection. [alert admin]

SWF & FLV Player 3.0.33.5105 (Mac OS X)

Foolish data collecting of the developing company!!!

I never understood, why companies want to collect eMail addresses and in my opinion, it's a very bad habit to do so! I got a former release of this Software, but I won't download it anymore under these conditions. [alert admin]

SurfRabbit 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)

Blocks adds better than every other AddBlocker I tried

Blocks adds very reliable, especially the really bothering Flash adds, which, as far as I know, no other AddBlocker does without extensive configuring for every web page. [alert admin]

No Spin 0.1 (Mac OS X)

Good idea!

Good idea, simple and effective! Although I had to change the StartInterval on the .plist file to 20 due to the fact, that my external FireWire Harddisk spins down after 30 seconds of inactivity. A PrefPane to change the Value would be great. [alert admin]

Audio Hijack Pro 2.7 (Mac OS X)

The very good is even getting better!

There's nothing more to say. And you can use it without any charge if you don't record more than 10 minutes in one piece. Thats a nice offer, especially for private use. [alert admin]

LilyPond 2.8.2-1 (Mac OS X)

All the people that complain about LilyPond ...

... probably never had to engrave complex music in a professional way. I concede that LilyPond isn't easy to use for the 'first time user', but after a reasonable time of using it, you will be faster than with any other application with a graphical user interface. And the sheet music produced with LilyPond looks really professional and there is very less you can't do with LilyPond. I also tried an X-Windows based graphical interface to LilyPond (which produces the LilyPond source code) but I returned to pure LilyPond immediately. For me, LilyPond is the best music engraving software. p.s.: I've seen one comment who recommended Finale Notepad instead of LilyPond *LOL* Did you really ever tried to edit a music sheet with many staves and lots of lyrics stanzas? Hot Potato

Your first statement is correct, but the second is absolutely false. PGP isn't any standard, it is a product of the PGP Corporation. The PGP Corporation was founded by the origin inventor of PGP, Phil Zimmermann, as he and some people of his former staff bought back the PGP source code from McAfee. (Phil Zimmermann sold the PGP source code 1997 to the McAfee, Inc.) The internet standard you mean is OpenPGP which was introduced 1998 as a…

Very, very slow under some circumstances.

When you just installed LilyPond for the first time and you compile your first score sheet, then LilyPond builds up his font cache first, and this can take up to 10 minutes (depends on the speed of your Mac). Thats no problem, because…

A big leap in the wrong direction – and an alternative GUI suggestion.

> "... not everyone needs to produce an orchestral score."

But thats what LilyPond is primarily for, and you suggest to use Finale Notepad as a likewise free software in your feedback to LilyPond.

Your arguments are self-contradictory!

Pls. name only one free notation software wich can really reach LilyPonds features and stbility and I will apologise for my preceding posts.

Finale Notepad is neither a GUI for LilyPond nor it is an equivalent replacement. Period!

Finale Notepad instead of LilyPond?!?

Finale Notepad is very easy to use, OK, but do you really think you can engrave complex music in a demandable quality? Are you in earnest?

Why disqualifiing a great app for a third party extension?

I think Mellel is a really great effort. This app gives a wealth of features which is without precedent to a price which is also without precedent. If you like Mellel to support an existing third party extension, I recommend you to contact mailto:support@redlers.com. But it's not fair to disqualify an app for this. It would be better to rate an app for its existing features, its 'look and feel' and its crash immunity, or if its worse, its crash…
