Apple iTunes 9.0.1 (Mac OS X)

A full download???

You know, Firefox often patches problems in their browser with minute downloads and that accounts for a full .1 version change....why in the world must we D/L the entire program every time Apple gives a .1 upgrade?? PITA!! [alert admin]

NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 5 (Mac OS X)

Last resort for PPC crowd

I applaud the development of this OO.o variant. It's the only one still under active development for the PPC users (and thanks to the high cost and high quality of Apple gear, there's still plenty of them) so we/they are not left in the lurch as other developers leave a good chunk of the Mac crowd behind. Sothink FLV Player 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Works Decently

i like that it loads FLV video faster than Quicktime with the Perian plugin....video playback appears in good quality and the interface is just plaing simple. Maybe a touch too simple. But it works. What doesn't work is video scrubbing. You push the place slider over and the video freezes until you release the slider and then playback continues from that point. Minor issue. I also like that the audio is not defaulted to loudest level. Quite nice for a v1 freebie. Thanks a bunch for your efforts. [alert admin]

MPlayer OSX Extended rev8 (Mac OS X)

Very Nice and with a Mac feel

While it's always been nice to have VLC around, it's always felt like a port. And MPlayer has been a nice program for the Mac, but it's not under very consistent development, I'd have to say. This version, though not 'official', has a great feel and plays everything I've thrown at it thus far. The scrubbing through the progress bar is smoother and more accurate than I've gotten from VLC and I appreciate the aesthetic touches added. Thanks a LOT. [alert admin]

Songbird (Intel) 1.0.0 (Mac OS X)

Featureless

Well, it's a start. But it's the missing features that keep me from keeping this on board for now. 1. No CD ripping yet. 2. No EQ (that I can find...can you?) 3. Shy on device support for now. I'll keep my eye on this for sure. I'm a big fan of open source and hope this improves for the sake of options. I like iTunes ok...but I'm certainly not married to it. Now that it's supporting a phone, TV device AND music...it's bloated. [alert admin]

TorrentDam 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Does what it says

I think it's proper to call this a 'search launcher' because what it does it open a window for each of the torrent sites you leave checked in the search attempt. Like I say, it does what it says it will do. One of the sites was doing maintenance, so I cannot vouch for the results there, but the other sites all returned search results according to my request in the utility. It does have an issue with resizing the window...it won't. Even though there appears to be a 'gripper' on the bottom right, it does nothing and clicking the green button does nothing. But that's the only thing that strikes me as a possible bug. [alert admin]

Plaxo 3.12 build839 (Mac OS X)

Won't go here

While Plaxo probably had a decent user base, I won't entrust my personal information, contacts or privacy to this company now. They've been bought by ComCast...no way. [alert admin]
