1Password 2.9.4 (Mac OS X)
Excellent software, active developer, and superb support, these guys have it all. In addition the product will save a great amount of time and frustration in managing passwords and profiles to use filling out web pages. In the Mac tradition it is fills a need with grace and elegance [alert admin]

Firefox 2.0.0.5 (Mac OS X)
Installed and using with no issues, same as previous versions, suspect the folks with previous bad reviews have sloppy systems with poor maintenance. I have never had trouble with Firefox either on Mac or Windows, it is a great browser and I am thankful for more choices than Safari or IE. [alert admin]

SpamSieve 2.6 (Mac OS X)
Hard to imagine improving on what is already the best Mac Spam tool on the market IMHO, but Michael keeps working on it and even sponsers a forum where we can get help when needed. Great investment that pays for itself every day by saving the time I would otherwise have wasted on dealing with spam. [alert admin]

Safari Enhancer 2.6.3 (Mac OS X)
verification of downloaded image fails
Tried downloading four times both from versiontracker link and direct off of developers page, each time the verification of image fails. Suggest you try fixing as it is unusable in current form. [alert admin]

Product has performed well under a number of scenarios, I find it a useful tool. The bad reviews sound like the typical dolts that don't bother to read the manual before using. We get them with every new product. [alert admin]

Drive Genius 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Patience is a virtue (and the tortoise is slow but sure)
Took all day but it did come in OK, just let it run in the background. As the Prosoft representative commented it is a large file, dmg disc image that was also stuffed with sitx format. I figured the servers were choked up and just ignored the speed. [alert admin]

Can't say enough about the virtues of this product that I have used for years and I constantly recommend it to my clients. Every client that has tried it has thanked me for the tip and commented on how useful it is. I must confess that the product has also accomplished what my entire educational experience through a college degree could never do: it actually has made me a better speller. There is something about the interactive way of using it with the instantaneous references to dictionaries and thesaurus is so superior to the years of manually looking up things in a paper dictionary that I now find after using this product for over five years my spelling accuracy is vastly improved and I get far less nags about spelling errors than I used to. Data Rescue 10.4.3 (Mac OS X)
I purchased the entire consultants package over a year ago and this software has paid for itself many times over by rescuing clients data when all other tools failed. Anyone complaining about the software is likely either expecting it to do more than they claim or does not have the rudimentary skills needed to use it. This product is the tool I turn to when all the others have failed and in ten separate cases in the past year it has worked well in eight of them. The remaining two cases were beyond it's abilities and they were both sent to Drive Savers for successful recovery. One was a failed 100 MB Zip disk that cost $500 to recover and the other one was a 40GB Samsung HD that cost $2800 to fully recover. This is independent verification of what they claim by a tech in the field. The program will work in most cases and when it won't the only remaining alternative is vastly more expensive. -- Cheers, Dale Dale Magner & Associates Computer Consultant Mac & PC A+ & Network+ Certified [alert admin]

Dantz Retrospect 6 Driver Update 5.6.102 (Mac OS X)
I might point out that it sounds like your problem is with the Tape drives and not Retrospect. I have been installing secondary drives to be used exclusively for Retrospect backups for a few years now and Retrospect works just fine backing up to another drive and will even span multiple drives if needed. I also have the Prosoft Backup and I use it in occasionally for clients with limited skills, but for business environments I use Retrospect exclusively. It does have a learning curve but once mastered the product is excellent. I use it on both Macintosh and Windows and have fairly well mastered the interface and operational procedures. It is sort of like Microsoft word, one never really stops learning a product with this much power, you just get progressively better at using all it has to offer. [alert admin]

Spell Catcher Plus 2.5.1 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
I have been using this jewel on Macs for years and just recently got it for the PC. Works equally well if not better than the Mac version. This is really a excellent program that has gradually made me a better speller just by the nature of how it works. It should really be classified as an interactive teacher and spellchecker. I have been recommending the Mac version to my clients for years and will now do the same for my PC clients. Dale Magner & Associates. [alert admin]

Perhaps you need to do some trouble-shooting on your system before assigning blame to innocent developers? CP Pro V1.1b2 is working just fine here on 10.5.6. Do you have the latest version of CP installed?

Try going to the developers site and post your experience on his forum, Michael monitors the site and replies promptly with help for people experiencing trouble with the application. He will assist you in sorting out why it is not working as designed. I have used it for several years now and it was losing accuracy gradually, I posted on his forum and he replied the same day and assisted me over two days getting…

Just received a email from the developer who explained the reasons behind his no upgrading policy and I will revise my position now that he has provided some of the reasons behind the policy. It is complicated but one of those deals where the closing of the doors of C&G has left some developers caught in a rather difficult position. I won't go into the details but leave it to the developer if he cares…
