Microsoft Office 2004 11.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Problems installing update

I originally had problems installing this update. Each time I tried my system would hang, forcing me to restart manually using the power button. Very frustrating! However, I then disabled Virex and opened the Acivity Monitor and quit the process named "Microsoft AU Daemon", and the update went smoothly. Don't know if the problem was Virex, AU Daemon, or both, but it works now. Hope this helps. [alert admin]

Pyramid 1.3.4 (Mac OS X)

Highly Recommended

I have tried all the other "mind-mapping" apps out there, and in my estimation Pyramid has by far the cleanest layout/output/aesthetics of them all, is very user friendly, and extremely stable. And the included tutorial can get a new user mapping with proficiency in minutes. I look forward to the addition of new features as this wonderful product evolves. [alert admin]

Mozilla Firebird 0.7 (Mac OS X)

I really want to like this product...

On my iMac 1Ghz 512ram, Firebird 0.7 (and Mozilla 1.5), is much slower than Safari, including the window scroll speed (Safari is just one snappy S.O.B.). I attempted to install themes, but after saying the theme was intalled successfully, it would not show up under Themes in Preferences, even after restart. When installing themes manually from a .jar file using the theme installer extension, the Program crashed every time. I know many people boast about the product deserving alot of praise, but from what I've experienced on my Mac, I am better off sticking with Safari for all general browsing, and Internet Explorer (!!!) for the tougher Java stuff, some of which Safari is still very weak at. On the surface, Mozilla seems like a bloated beast, although with much promise. [alert admin]

Gallery 1.3.2 (Mac OS X)

Simply awesome! Nothing…

else comes close to its dynamically generated (PHP) web photo albums. Installation is really a snap too, once PHP is enabled on OS X and you have a basic understainding of the Terminal app. Gary S. is right, there is a whole universe of awesome PHP packages available that run seamlessly on OS X. Btw, JAlbum is a great choice for strictly html generated web albums. [alert admin]
