Letterbox 0.16 (Mac OS X)

good, but...

I think it is a long time coming for something like this. A few suggestions: 1) Have a setting for 2 lines for the middle pane so that all the email info can be displayed without squeezing everything so close together or having to make the middle pane a bit too wide. 2) Implement a setting so that this is user specific...My wife uses our Mac with her own user log in ID and doesn't want to use it. I understand it is still in Beta, so I offer the above for future builds, not as a criticism. [alert admin]

Freedom from slow Windows Media Player

This program works like a charm. I can now watch without a slow wait videos from CNN, NBC, etc. directly on their websites. I was getting very dissappointed that it would take forever for any video to come up under WMP, but this program helped to make it work just like I am running a Windows machine...smooth, quick, and seemless. Freedom! I very rarely write any reviews on any products, but I had to write one on this since it now opens up a whole new world of (free) video for me. If only the media world could come up with one compatible standard! [alert admin]

Data Backup 2.03 (Mac OS X)

was a good application until it erased my other hard disk

Due the problem with 2.02 of "Fixed volume confusion problem for multiple external drives" which is now supposedly fixed in 2.03, I am hesitant to use this application again. About one month ago, it seemed to have decided on its own to back up to another external drive instead of the targeted external drive, thereby erasing ALL the data I had on the other drive and replacing it with my cloned drive. I tried using their demo version of Data Rescue to retreive the erased data, but the program was reporting that it would take a week to review all the data on a 60 gig drive. I asked their support if it actually takes this long or if I am missing something, but got no response back to this question. I would have thought that they would have given me a free copy of Data Rescue or at least responded to my question about recovery to help me correct a significant problem their application created. But no luck. I am using Carbon Copy for now. [alert admin]

Playlist Player 1.5 (Mac OS X)

Very simple and…

clean application that gets the job done. I have a variety of music videos on my hard disk and I like to have them randomly play. It makes it seem like I have my own MTV station of favorites! Now, only if I could set it so that it adjusts the volume for each movie--like iTunes does for MP3s. [alert admin]

iPhoto Toast Export Plugin 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

I think this…

is a nice plugin, but why not simply use the Export command? [alert admin]

The Serial Keeper 2.1 (Mac OS 9)

Solid and simple,…

but a little bit to "toyish" looking and sounding at times. [alert admin]

Freedom from slow Windows Media Player

After even more testing, I have noticed that the commercials on CNN video don't come up when using this! This is terrific. (At my work, we use Windows machines and the commercials come up every time a CNN video is played.)
