Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus 3.3 (Mac OS X)

Developer Unresponsive

I have to add my complaints to the chorus here. I did a complete clean install of Leopard and went to re-install Forty-Two DVD VX. Like everyone else here, the Serial Number I was supplied at the time of purchase no longer works. Several attempts to contact the developer via his support page have gone with no response at all. A quick check of the same product on the MacUpdate.com website shows they have placed an editors warning on the product due to lack of support going on for over a year now. Until this developer gets his house in order, I would strongly advise to save your money and look elsewhere. [alert admin]

AbiWord 2.4.4 (Mac OS X)

Font Rendering makes AbiWord unusable

Until the developers get a handle on the font rendering issues in the V. 2.4.x series, stick with the 2.2 series. AbiWord is virtually unusable for Mac OSX in any of 2.4.x releases. Their BugZilla page is filled with users reporting kerning issues, rendering issues and printing issues. The developers were forced to acknowledge that the 2.4 series is a "work in progress" for Mac users, partcularly over the font rendering issue. Version 2.2.10 is the last functioning version of AbiWord on the Mac. Any of the newer releases are unusable. [alert admin]

CenterStage 0.4 (Mac OS X)

Too buggy to keep

First off, CenterSage is an alpha release, with all that that implies. I tried this app and within the first 5 minutes of use, CenterStage locked up my PowerMac G5. I could not force quit the application. Also, CenterStage requires BackStage as well to run to assemble your movie library. At this time only the movie function works. All others are not yet working. When it was working, CenterStage will only playback .mov and .mpg files. I found the playback extremely jerky and halting. MPEG files playback strangely, with one file playing back at almost double speed. Although the release notes indicate that CenterStage will playback EyeTV recordings, I could not get it to do so, causing an application hang each time. I would recommend passing on CenterStage until it's a more refined an functional application. [alert admin]

FoldersSynchronizer 3.5.1 (Mac OS X)

Excellent Product with a very responsive developer

FoldersSynchronizer is bar none, the best synchronzing/backup tool that I've used. I recently had a problem launching FoldersSynchronizer after my upgrade to Tiger 10.4 and emailed the developer. He was incredibly responsive and helped me over the course of about 3 days to identify the problem. He was even kind enough to send me an advance copy of version 3.5.1 to address the problem. I've bought a lot of shareware, but Lorenzo at Softobe is outstanding. I would definitely recommend FoldersSynchronizer [alert admin]

DropCopy 0.4.1 (Mac OS X)

Excellent tool - but now expired

DropCopy was the tool I was looking for to easily transfer files between Macs. Drag a file to the drop spot and DropCopy lists the connected Macs running DropCopy, release and the file is transferred. One note though - as of today,4/13/05 it appears version 0.4.1 has expired as a beta. The application displays a warning the beta has expired. It appear the developer has not update the software so it may no longer be supported, which is shame. It's a great app! [alert admin]

Little Snitch 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Is this application even available?

I've tried on numerous occasions to download Little Snitch with no success. The developers website appears either abandoned or unsupported. Even emails to developer have been returned with messages that the domain is unknown. Are there any alternate links to download Little Snitch? Or has this product died on the vine? [alert admin]

Disk Order 0.9.3 (Mac OS X)

Like Total Commander for OSX!

As a p/t WinXP user, one of the best Windows file management tools is Total Commander. One of the things I missed on OSX is something that was similar to TC. I've tried Pathfinder, MacExplorer and the like and while all are good, they just didn't function like TC. Well now comes Disk Order, and it's terrific. This is probably one of the best file management tools I've used on the Mac. You can view your files and drives in side-by-side finder panes. Moving files, copying and just basic file management become a snap. The new 0.9.3 version has enhancements to the interface that just add to the functionality. Disk Order also comes with built-in CD-burning and zip archiving functions as well, along with a file viewer for photos, etc. If I have any criticism of Disk Order, it's the program icon, which is terrible. It's a flat 2-D representation of a disk platter with reader arm in black and white that just dull, dull, dull. Other than the boring program icon, this is a must have app for any Mac user! This is *NOT* Freeware!

This really is a demo version, with a limited number of deals (5) per game. So what occurs is that with the 6th deal within the same game, you are dealt the same cards as the 1st game. There are true Freeware versions of Solitaire on Version Tracker.

Canot open with Canon LIDE 80 and Tiger

Same here. The last functioning version for me with my LIDE 80 is version .08. None of the latest builds will even open for me.
