Livid Batch Export Utility 1.2 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Good start but a long way to go

I couldn't get it to work. It seems like it would be a good program but it was the only thing running and kept freezing up. [alert admin]

AppZapper 1.7.0 (Mac OS X)

This is great

Yes I could search with spotlight but when I need to delete something, I just don't have time to mess with all the searching. The best part is I don't have to worry about deleting the wrong file or not getting them all. I do believe $13 is a bit high though. This is a $8-10 app. [alert admin]

Opportunity Manager 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Developer gave up on software

I tried this app and it worked decently but obviously needs optimized for universal binary. I have seen other apps work better and other apps worse so it is an average program for that. My biggest complaint is that I wrote the developer twice over a two month period and never received a reply. With the last update being almost a year ago I believe he has given up on the program and my company cannot invest in an app that there is no support for. [alert admin]

Click 2 Crop 2.1 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Decent App

Its the only decent app I found after trying a feww others. The interface is ugly and I couldn't figure out how to turn cropping off (I just wanted to add some text to a pic). The text and some other features were limited but it works. [alert admin]

Picture Stamp 2.1 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Not worth the download

The interface is horrible. It makes you find files by C: prompt. Adding text to a picture has limitied features and often trails off the edge of an image because there is no centering. And it stamps all your images with a shareware messages [alert admin]

Nicecast 1.5.5 (Mac OS X)

The developers are smoking crunch.

Why is it this is the only site people praise the price on? All the other sites have people commenting how ridiculous $40 is for this app. Funny that these are the reviews that the developer mentions by name when I wrote and asked what was up. I don't see the point in paying that much for a novelty app so other people can listen to my music for free. I wrote Rogue Amoeba and told them that, mentioned I would gladly register my version if the price was more reasonable. There response was long and surly. Basically said that they have gotten great reviews, mentioned the comments on here. Then they claimed its a serious utility for those who need it, yadda yadda yadda. They ended it with a comment about how if I didn't like it that was fine with them, plenty of other customers do pay the $40. How is it companies can make great programs like Halo and Everquest which are infinitely more complicated and charge $40 and these guys think their toy is worth the same. They even throw in pretty packaging and CDs. Shareware is what made the Mac great but developers are going crazy these days. So my question is, has anyone paid for it? Would anyone pay $40 so other people could listen to your music for free? And does anyone else believe the only two reviews (I include other websites that can't be mentioned) that don't have problems with the price are probably lackies for Rogue Amoeba? [alert admin]

Nicecast 1.5.1 (Mac OS X)

Love the app but way to expensive

I love the app but it is WAY to expensive. Haven't played much with it because the sound gets staticky after 20 minutes which isn't long enough to collect any listeners most of the time. They sign on and hear static so of course the drop your station. It continues to do that unless you pay for it and unless they figure out a way to bill people for listening to my music it isn't worth $40. I say developers should be supported but this isn't a must have application and doesn't really benefit most users. The only people it benefits are the listeners and they aren't paying for it. $40 is what you charge for an awesome game or a good system utility. This is an amusing toy and worth about $15 at the most. [alert admin]

Fast DVD Copy 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Feedback Fixed?

I personally like FastDVDCopy. It worked well for me in v1.0.1 even though I have actually had more problems in V1.0.2 and v1.0.3 I have noticed a few people have commented only on this software and given it stellar reviews. By that I mean of all the apps on VersionTracker, this is the only one they have reviewed. Coincidentally, those same people just signed up at the about time this program appeared. Of course feedback is an opinion and everyone has a right to theirs but how can you give this application 5 stars? I have yet to here of anyone whose opinion I trust not have problems with at least one of the versions. I don't want to list names but 4 of the 11 people who have given it a good ranking have never commented on any other app. That means more than a third of the good reviews of a product over 60 other people have complained about, signed up just to say something nice about it. Seems a little strange to me. [alert admin]

Fast DVD Copy 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

I have tried each version

I tried it. It either works for you or doesn't. There doesn't seem to be an inbetween. It really is more of a beta product than something I would pay for. I have written their customer service several detailed emails and included terminal logs, only gotten one reply. v1.0.1 worked for me but didn't playback in all DVD players and occasionally skipped but was fine if I backed up to the part missed. v1.0.2 doesn't skip forward as much and works in both my DVD players but it has really bad artifacts and sound glitches. v1.0.3 works in every DVD player I have been able to try (even my neighbors) but has sound glitches and some freezing. It seems like they get one thing fixed and screw up others. [alert admin]

Fast DVD Copy 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Works For Me But To Damn Expensive

Well after deleting the first version and downloading it again it worked. I was at 3 hours when I gave up on waiting for it and went to dinner. I put a blank in my external 8x burner and when I came home it was finished. I tried the DVD in my very old DVD player that was top of the line 4 years ago and it didn't work. The cheapo one I paid $30 for at the Sears Day after Thanksgiving Sale plays them without a problem. The new DVD player is a Koss that states on the front that it plays DVD-Rs so maybe that is the difference. I have a 1ghz Dual Processor with 360GBs of HD and 1.5GB of RAM and it didn't go over 70% of my processor capacity once. This app is definitely not fast but you could leave it overnight if you have a reader and separate burner. It works for me but I certainly wouldn't pay $100 for it. Not unless it was MUCH speedier and had a few Region features or the ability to rip other formats and maybe not even then. $30-$45 seems much more in line for an app that still seems to be in Beta. Don't forget to report your bugs, thats the only way they will know what to fix. [alert admin]
