kTunes 1.0d19 (Mac OS X)
Why is this commercial software? ![]()

I was so relieved to find this here because it fills a hole in Mac software, but I have some issues. I can't get it to import music from the sample files it comes with. I can't even place them in the ~/Music/kTunes folder and have them show up in the library. Sometimes when I launch, quit, or open or close the preferences, I get an assert error. Now, I read the website disclaimer that this isn't even alpha software and to expect this kind of behavior, which is all well and good, but why does it cost so much? Why does it cost anything at all? Nobody should charge for pre-beta software. That's just plain absurd. However, the product looks good (the iTunes interface ripoff is probably a good idea), is an innovative, good idea, and offers something new to Mac users. Since I haven't been able to get any files to play, I can't review the functionality very well, except that it doesn't work. I'll look forward to future releases, and might even consider buying it if the price is significantly lower. [alert admin]

StepMania 3.9a4b (Mac OS X)
Apoofoof- no, it doesn't. Go to the developer's site and there are links for song downloads. All in all, this looks like it has the potential to be a solid product, except for that pesky song loading bug that everyone's experiencing. [alert admin]

Direct Mail 1.3.6 (Mac OS X)
I voice complaints again that the software is terrible, and the company (if there even is a company) is terrible. There is no support, and I have resorted to using Mail.app to send my bulk email. This is a pain, but it doesn't crash like Direct Mail does. For the love of all that is good, DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE. [alert admin]

Googlifications 1.0b1 (Mac OS X)
I think this program is pretty cool and takes advantage of an online service few people are familiar with. I am hoping I can use it to fine-tune my search engine responses to certain websites. [alert admin]

CaminoKnight 2.0 (Mac OS X)
problem is related to a bad build in Camino. It happened on Camino's first nightly update, and it's happening again tonight. On another note, CaminoKnight is perfect at what it does. I want to see more Mac apps that behave like this. [alert admin]

Camino 0.7.0 (Mac OS X)
that I liked Chimera better than Camino. I don't know what changed besides the name, but I get a lot more crashes, and now I can't launch with an error 1000 (like iccy82 mentioned) on the latest nightly build. Kind of disappointing considering this was so much better than all the other browsers just a week or two ago. But it's still better than IE. [alert admin]

Direct Mail 1.3.6 (Mac OS X)
my update: Still just one star because the software is slow, is unsupported, and crashes every five minutes. But, for those of you who are having problems, here is my solution: Export all your addresses from your DirectMail file into a text file. Import them into Palm Desktop, then export those as vCards. You can import the vCards into a new group in your Address Book, which Mail (in OSX) will recognize. Then send your bulk mail to a BCC, and drag the new group into that. I had no problem, and it sent very very fast. One other tip, be very cautious when you pay money for shareware. [alert admin]

Direct Mail 1.3.6 (Mac OS X)
Terry's rude post, I vote another one star. I had 2 before, because I could send messages. I'm down to it crashing after about 10 messages, and direct send (as opposed to SMTP) takes about 30 seconds per message, while SMTP fails about half the time. On another note, Terry, I'm glad all your 150,000 addresses are legit. You mentioned this twice. I just hope I'm not one of them ;) [alert admin]

Smiley! 1.7.0 (Mac OS X)
for this yet? I mean, the user interface is superb, and the possibilities for this software are endless. I never knew how to type a colon and parenthesis to express my actual human emotions on IntARnet. [/sarcasm] [alert admin]
