StuffIt Deluxe 9.0 (Mac OS X)
Who needs StuffIt Deluxe where OS X can handle all your compressed files? ZIP is a de facto standard and like other early Mac compressors Allume won't keep SIT from dying. Try WinZIP or WinRAR on a *slow* PC system and you'll see what real performance is. So who's gonna pay for this crap? [alert admin]

I have tried a couple of programs of all varieties to shoot an image from my boot partition an finally ended up with TI which does the job automatically once a week which saves me a lot of time. A few days ago my beloved Samsung SV1203N, 120G sent my machine to blue screen because it was defective. With TI I could set up and restore C an D partitions to a new 160G harddisk within about 40 mins. while booted from the Acronis emergency CD. It was absolutely pain-free and easy going. Version 8 now supports USB mice in emergency mode and has a couple of nice other features for backing up, restoring, upgrading disk, cloning disk ect. A++ strongly recommended! Just give it a try! (And no, I do not work for Acronis ;) [alert admin]

AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) 4.7 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
These AIMs came with browsers those days and were extremely hard to kill, annoying me infinitely. If I could rate it with negative stars I would give it a -10. [alert admin]

Default Folder X 1.9.2b1 (Mac OS X)
>Just imagine the money they could make if it was reasonably priced Just imagine the money you could save if you would use it. Not more than 35 bucks? So just don't do it. It's as simple like that. For me it's an awesome product for allday use which saves me lots of time - and time is money. Macwiz [alert admin]

FAXstf X Pro 10.1.4 (Mac OS X)
10.3 includes fax print support - finally! After years of absence of tools like NXfax they've finally integrated a fax service. I think this will lead to an insight at SM... Too bad for the two devs (or is it just one?) that worked on STF. [alert admin]

X Ball 2.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Strange bugs ahead! First try: sound volume almist set to max which almost destroyed my soundsticks. I d/l again today, started app and got a warning, that the standard game file was not found (it was in the same folder). Now always silences my Soundsticks, I have to reboot to regain access to them. Also tried to delete prefs file - no success with bugs nor game play. Pls. fix, game is awesome! [alert admin]

@L Ross: So what do you expect? Is the fact that software goes final a proof of reliability? I don't care what's its name if it is useful and reliable - just MHO. Eberhard Woentz - German translation of DFX
