Please notice that this is a test build that is supposed to be for experienced VLC users and VLC testers. It still has many major bugs and is absolutely not advised to be used in any form beyond bughunting. If you have comments please use VLC's http://forum.videolan.org/ to report any issues (of which there are many, about 18 problems have already been solved today). I have asked that this version gets pulled from VersionTracker DJ A VLC developer [alert admin]

VLC media player 0.7.0 (Mac OS X)
OK, this is a big boo boo on our part, but we forgot to enable the FLAC support in the OS X version this release. We uploaded a new binary, so if you want FLAC support, you will have to download the 0.7.0 again. [alert admin]

VLC media player 0.6.2 (Mac OS X)
VLC can't corrupt video drivers in mid play. Maybe if VLC had a very nasty crash it could, but then the videodriver folks are equally at fault for not protecting their drivers as they ought too, since this is supposed to be impossible on OSX. It is known however that our multiple monitor support is somewhat flawed. Because of that we might use QuickTime and QuickDraw incorrectly. But then again, it would be an error at both sides of the software in that case. (so apple would be at fault as well) I'm talking about very rare situations here. One in a million changes etc. You shouldn't be so worried. It's just a small PRAM thing. I can't even count the number of times i had to reset my PRAM because something was wrong with it. VLC media player 0.6.0 (Mac OS X)
lanejasper69: yes your dvd player should work, and we are a little swamped, so downloads may take some time to launch. HotSoup: transparency is hidden away in the preferences. You require a powerful mac for it to work. And we are a player/server/transcoder. I don't think we will ever get any form of video editing. There are just too many videoformats to consider in that case. [alert admin]

ben: delete your prefs. see the MacOSX readme file
ping5: If you want a spanish translation, then offer to create one. If you don't, then you have no reason to complain. A new interface is planned, but is a lot of work. Care to help out :)

VLC media player 0.5.3 (Mac OS X)
Sorry we keep saying the next version is just a week ahead. We changed our release from 0.5.4 to 0.6.0, which is taking some extra time to create a good new release. It will be there soon though. DJ, VLC osx developer. [alert admin]

Samba Sharing Package 2.5.0b3 (Mac OS X)
Because of the Windows Filesharing support added in MacOSX 10.2 and the upcoming Windows Printersharing support rumoured to be added to MacOSX 10.3 and besides that lack of community support, this project is no longer maintained. I'm working on VLC media player now. If anyone wants to continue with this, it's opensource, so go right ahead. [alert admin]

Tiger PPC Link Downloads 0.9.3
http://www.videolan.org/news.html We accidently released the 0.9.3 Mac OS X PowerPC binary as the 0.9.4 download. We apologize for this, and corrected PowerPC and Universal downloads have been uploaded to our main mirror. It will take up to a day for these binaries to be distributed to some of our mirrors. If you want you can download the file directly from our main server.

Still doesn't play some things that MPlayer does
Well unfortunatly this situation is not our fault. It's largely to blame on the unprofessionalism of the 3 major video application producers that this situation has come to be. They should really learn to look at how the TV world (MPEG) creates standards. It might be slow, but at least it will do what it is supposed to be in anything that implements the standard. For most other formats, there isn't even a standard !!!…

VLC modules are not compatible over multiple versions, so you cannot use 0.8.1 modules in 0.8.2 All the code that WAS submitted to VLC by the developers of those plugins was committed. This shows you exactly why it's bad if developers don't communicate with the core team of a product like VLC. It's upto those developers to fix the issue, and i urge you to persuede them to better coordinate their efforts with the VLC team.

If the seeking thing is your problem, then you just didn't look far enough. Please look at the hotkeys in the prefs, the keycombo's are there. I have no idea what you meant with screeching sound, but i never heard about such an issue before. The green muck is intentianal. VLC is originally a streaming client. Look at a Quicktime MPEG4 stream with QTP and you will see the same effect at first. VLC is a datapacket based…
