NoSweat 1.0beta1 (Mac OS X)

NoWork

This software does not work with a Garmin Forerunner 301 connected via USB. Perhaps it does not support this configuration, but who knows as there is no documentation. The interface is very crude. [alert admin]

Bloglines Notifier for Dashboard 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Not very useful

This widget merely acts as a launcher to bloglines.com, not very useful. It should show you the syndication headlines (ala the Slashdot widget). [alert admin]

VoodooPad 2.1.2 (Mac OS X)

Where's the wiki?

I agree with previous reviewers that this is a marvelous application, for what it does. For those looking for a wiki, a collaborative environment for a number of remote users, this may not be the thing for you. The initial welcome page makes a brief explanation of a wiki, and points the user to the wikipedia entry for wiki, which elucidates that a wiki "is a group of Web pages that allows users to add content, as on an Internet forum, but also allows others (often completely unrestricted) to edit the content." Looking further into the VoodooPad Help, it turns out that remote editing can only be achieved using Flystash, a separate cgi script. That would be ideal for me, but I am greeted with a huge red WARNING header upon visiting the Flystash page ( http://flyingmeat.com/flystash/ ) which then relates that the software is in a perpetual alpha state and suggests that I not use it for any important documents or risk losing them! I've visited this page for the last few releases of VoodooPad, but Flystash still hasn't emerged from it's pupal alpha-state yet. I will continue to wait in hopes that remote editing is a feature that will mature in a future version. [alert admin]

Apple Backup 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Where is 3.0.1?

The download link takes you to a download page where version 3.0 is the latest version, not 3.0.1. Yes, I am a .mac member and I still only see the 3.0 download link. Is there a direct link to Apple Backup 3.0.1? [alert admin]

ClamXav 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Not bad, needs work

This is the best virus check for Mac OS X I've seen. I did encounter some issues with it. I gave it an extra star for being an free open-source application. Pros: Great free product, thorough. Cons: Scaning seems to permanently hang at times, but doesn't cause application crash. Unable to quarrantine a specific virus-laden message packed in an .mbox file, but at least it can inform you of virus existence. Update feature or versioning is broken (I am running version 1.0.1 but the update feature still triggers and tells me that a new version of either the application or the engine (not specified which) is available, whereupon visiting the download page I find that the latest version is 1.0.1). How do I get this off my machine?

I believe you drag the application to the Trash. To remove the clamav engine, double-click the REMOVE_engine.command file located on the image file in the Documentation & Extras folder. This information is lacking in the ReadMe.rtfd.

Panther starting to disapoint.

Yes, but what about OS X 10.3.1? I'd like to hear how this update fares under your configuration.
