QuickMix 1.2 (Mac OS X)
I use this in conjunction with Formac's Studio TVR software to edit shows I record using the Formac TVR. QuickMix picks up where the TVR leaves off, and for $20, it's a bargain. It allows me to edit down to the tenth of a second, export tracks into an AVI format, specify the screen size of the AVI, and a lot more. You can do stuff while it's converting (which usually takes 15 minutes for a 30 show) on my G4 733. The interface is a little clunky, but it does what I need and that without a hitch. I've never had problems with the files its produced or the program suddenly dumping out. The author is responsive to emails as well. I heartily recommend QuickMix. [alert admin]

SweetMail 2.2r6 (Mac OS 9)
It does everything I need it to do -- checks email fast and simply. It doesn't choke on downloading 300+ mails like Moz does, and it doesn't hog the whole CPU like Moz does either. I don't care if it doesn't do HTML. HTML in email is a security hole anyhow. It's an excellent product. [alert admin]

GooSearch 2.0 (Mac OS 9)
This thing rocks. It takes up very little space, allows you to choose from Google searches I didn't even know were there (like "mac"), and launches the default browser with the results. The price is right, too. [alert admin]

AccessStrip 1.2.0 (Mac OS 9)
After a couple uses I can already see how useful this thing is. Not only can you add apps and docs to your control strip, you have four areas that you select with different items. It's a lot more compact than Drag Strip or Drag Thing and a lot cheaper too! [alert admin]

Pretty poor software that doesn't use a relative date in assessing whether it has expired. Instead this thing doesn't even LET you use it and says it's expired straight out of the box. Pathetic. [alert admin]

Wordoolio 1.0.0 (Mac OS X)
It's not bad. The brushed metal interface looks classy (though the icons could be better), and everything works fine. You can save it with any extension (unlike TextPad, grr!). Formatting, fonts, alignment, all the usual text editor/layout basics are here. The only kicker is that the watch shows up frequently because the program is slow, and it's slow because it's written in REALBASIC. (I'm on a 733 Mhz G4. Why should I have to wait for text editing?) My .02? Without significant speed optimization, it's not much use as a program. On a side note, the programmer's political views (advocating assisination of elected leaders) are odious and dried up any financial support I might have considered. [alert admin]

iMood Updater 1.52 (Mac OS X)
I set up an imood account, downloaded this software (the links works, natch), and ran it just fine. I'm on 10.2.8. Nice brushed metal interface. Only real critique is that the personal moods should be part of the main interface. I'm always going to set my personal mood and not just my base mood. Try it! [alert admin]

PsyncX 2.0 (Mac OS X)
I get this error: Can't locate MacOSX/File.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /sw/lib/perl5/darwin /sw/lib/perl5 /System/Library/Perl/5.8.1/darwin /System/Library/Perl/5.8.1 /Library/Perl/5.8.1/darwin /Library/Perl/5.8.1 /Library/Perl /Network/Library/Perl/5.8.1/darwin /Network/Library/Perl/5.8.1 /Network/Library/Perl .) at /usr/local/bin/psync line 14. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/local/bin/psync line 14. I couldn't figure out how to make it backup to a CD image nor make it bootable. The GUI didn't provide those options, at least and the language in the installer and here sure made it sound like it could...or maybe those are things you can't do through the front-end? But isn't the whole app just a front-end? [alert admin]

iRooster 1.05 (Mac OS X)
Yes it has a nice interface, but it really doesn't work as a general-purpose alarm clock. It doesn't feature iTunes integration so much as REQUIRES it. At least I couldn't find a way to just use it as an alarm clock, or a timer, and that made it not useful for me. [alert admin]

MoreClocks 3.1.4 (Mac OS X)
Easy to use, straight-forward, and a beautiful interface when it alarms in the dock. I wish the alarm would ring more than once, though. I haven't registered it yet, so I'm not sure what happens if you don't, but the functionality and the ease of use garner my recommendation. [alert admin]

It's an economic decision on NTI's part -- the VAT tax and/or shipping makes the promotion just not economically feasible. Who's fault is that? Look to Brussels and Paris and your own hands for that.
