Civ3Edit 1.32.1 (Mac OS X)
This app remains broken (since Panther) under Tiger. Move along. [alert admin]

Trapeze 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)
I have only tried it for about 20 minutes using a 3-page PDF I put put together from one of my manuals, in order to test the app. • Trapeze did a fine job of capturing the text from the PDF • The options could use a description of what should occur. I had to experiment to find out exactly how my PDF would react. Suggested improvements: • Capture the images as well as text (that's a big request). • define the area of the page to capture so as to avoid page numbers or headers, etc. [alert admin]

ProximityMines 1.5.0 (Mac OS X)
Good start... needs tweaking and price adjustment ![]()

I really like the look of the app ... good choice of colors and level of contrast. Easy to read it real fast. Quite sure I'd never pay $14.95 for it, despite being an avid "Minesweeper" fan. The app needs 2 things. 1 - larger playing field. An expert player is not challenged by the medium size board. 2 - The "sweep" function. If you are really playing for time, a key-stroke to clear the spaces surrounding a known mine. The right way to do it is by chording the left & right mouse click. Other than that ... I like it but can't okay it until it has these capabilities. Oh, one more thing. 3 - Not needed but the app calls it. Selecting Help or Keyboard Shortcuts opens an empty browser window. This isn't needed but if your app is calling it, you should have it. [alert admin]

Fast DVD Copy 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)
Well, I d/led it and gave it a shot. Good interface. simple to use. I inserted a disk in my SuperDrive, it was recognized and I started the dupe process. 83 minutes later I was ready to burn a disk. 13 minutes later I had a duplicate. Very easy and effective. I am a novice at this whole thing and have not had as much success using other tools, simply because I don't fully understand how to get a 7 GB disc down to 4GB AND have DVD Player recognize the burnt disk.
A few negatives:
- $99!? That seems very steep considering there are other tools, though they may not be as seamless.
- Draconian licensing. I have multiple machines in several locations. While I cannot physically use them at the same time, I would like to have it installed in several locations. If I am paying $100 I want some flexibility.
- The app requires 17GB of hardrive space. I can understand needing at least as much as the disk data, but that seems like a lot. At least let us know that up-front. I had to clear out some data I didn't want to.
In all, I don't think it is worth $100. I will invest some time in figuringout the other tools.

3DOSX 2.0 Beta (Mac OS X)
I'm running a dual 867 G4 with a Gig of RAM. Clicking on a favorite that takes me 5 palettes deep takes about 90-120 seconds to render. Selecting the root of the drive then takes another 30-60 seconds to render the "tunneling" effect to get to the main platter. Opening another platter? Forget about it I was waiting for the thing to draw for well over 2 inutes when I quit the app. Also, there should be an easy way to get to the main platter when only 1 platter is open, and <b>not</b> by using the menu. A single platter so completely occupies the interface as to make it unusable. I remember trying this app quite a while back (first release maybe?). This is not an improvement on that earlier iteration. [alert admin]

Look Up Words 2.0 (Mac OS X)
what would make the app really useful is the addition of wild cards (& runs) or for the list to automatically show all words that have the string of letters. E.G. entering "onym" should include onymal, onymous, etc., but should also include things like anONYMous. Beyond that, the app does what it says and is acceptably fast. [alert admin]

CADtools 2.1.4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
for about 2 years. CADTools & Illy combine to make some of the nicest part prints I've ever seen. Very well done. There are a few small issues I'd like to see resolved (related to updating data & layers) but nothing that would not stop me from whole-heartedly giving it 5 stars. [alert admin]

CrystalBall X 3.0.6 (Mac OS X)
to give it 5 stars but 3 things are lacking ... 1) Print feature. This is _almost_ useless without it. 2) Built-in Prestige classes 3) Pre-Generated Equipment, especially magic items. This is a terrific Work In Progress. [alert admin]

Someone who does not live in the real world wrote "if a product only works with something free, then the product must be free." What about all those free cell phones that have after-market and 3rd party add-ons like face plates available for purchase? Are you saying these things should be free? The phone manufacturer WANTS this market ... it drives demand for their phones. Additionally, nothing is free, you're paying for it somewhere. If a…
