Tank Repairman 1942 1.0 (Mac OS X)
A joke that is not all too funny ![]()

This is someone's idea of prank software and the fact is that the joke is not all that amusing. There is no challenge and no real purpose to this application. The write ups and directions provide more excitement and intrigue than the game itself which even my children lost interest in a very short time. [alert admin]

Colloquy 2.1 (3720) (Mac OS X)
Upon attempting to start the application, it will temporarily appear in the dock and then vanish as the application will not start. Restarted the computer after downloading, and ensured program was located in the applications folder prior to next attempt. Nothing changed, application would not successfully start. [alert admin]

WeatherManX 1.8.18 (Mac OS X)
I've been using this product for nearly three years and have downloaded the updates as they've appeared. This update totally demolished my settings, requiring my having to reset everything. All of the weather station codes, forecast codes, and other settings were replaced with jibberish that rendered the program worthless until I removed the preferences file and rebuilt everything from scratch. iCab 2.9.5 (Mac OS 9)
Improvements in some areas, drop in others
This latest version has some nice touches added to it with the tabbed browser window and the ability to customize menu bars more. But this version has had some of the worst page rendering issues I've ever had with iCab. So I'm left with menus and tabs the way I want, but the page in the window looks awful and incoherent. Opera 6.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
a good release. They have come up with some good ideas since 5, such as full screen viewing and the "page tab" idea is something worth trying, but this thing is not ready for primetime. I had to play with it for over an hour just to get it to display opera.com's own web pages! To top it off, they are getting more aggressive in their requests for money. I would consider buying it if it were able to properly display every site I view without tweaking it every other page. For now, I will continue to putter around with 5 until the next 6 (non beta) update arrives. [alert admin]

Opera 5.0 (Mac OS 9)
Which world would that be? Testing it against both IE and iCab, it was the clear loser in speed for any previously unviewed site I attempted to connect with. A very nice clean browser, but if some company is going to use a claim as its slogan, it should be able to back it up within reason. [alert admin]

ICQ 3.1b12 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
better and better for the Mac, the only problem I find is that less and less people I know are using ICQ. Yahoo! Instant Messenger and others are attracting the newer users. That's too bad as this program is really quite the nice tool. [alert admin]

A-Dock 2.6p1 (Mac OS 9)
the exception of not working after my screensaver (SETI at home) kicks in; after the computer is reactivated, the A Dock will not return without a restart or reinstall. Beyond that bug, it works outstanding. [alert admin]

MacSoft Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 1.0 (Mac OS 9)
off and on line. AI is shaky though. Certain 'rules' need to be learned when sending computer controlled teams to do a job if you want to meet with sucess. Loves RAM and needs plenty of it. (With 64 MB total, I was not getting good results. But, with 160 MB now, it works great.) [alert admin]

Dock Manager 2.0 (Mac OS 9)
Runs easy, and I must agree, the double arrows at both ends of a scroll bar have made me spoiled; I don't want to revert to the "old" way. Because of the way it looks and operates, it's hard to believe it is freeware. [alert admin]
