Sunrise 1.7.1 (Mac OS X)

Impressive

I just downloaded and installed Sunrise and I'm impressed. It's built on the same source as Safari. Based on the number of releases the developers have had in the last few days, they are working hard to make this a really great browser. One unusual feature is that Bookmarks have an icon view of the page. Nice touch. [alert admin]

PithHelmet 2.8.2 (Mac OS X)

Yes, it works!

The suggestion below works, and is very easy to do. Just follow the steps outlined by rskinner, and you'll soon have a functioning PithHelmet again. I cannot stand to surf the web without PithHelmet. [alert admin]

Time Tracker 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Works well, but limited printing

I just downloaded this timer to use to time several projects. The positive side: The menu bar start and stop button makes it very easy to use, there is great flexibility to add tasks and projects. It's also easy to change or correct an entry. Others have complained about the pop-up saying "You been idle" - but if you click on it it will count the time (this is important to time tasks that are away from the computer). The negative side: I don't see a good way to print. It will print a summary of the time for a project, but without the subset of the tasks and without dates, or it will print the tasks without the total time. I suppose you could print different pages, but I'd like to be able to print daily summaries. Not being able to print out a daily summary means I'll look elsewhere. The price is right, though. Undercover 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Can't help but wonder...

I can't help but wonder whether this will really work. I hope to never have to put it to the test! My experiences installing Undercover: - Downloaded the application from the Orbicule website - Installation went very smoothly. Installation requires a reboot. There's a nice "Welcome" screen. Offers two options, Buy a licence key, and Enter Key. - I bought a "Household" key, but when I tried to enter it, I got an "Unable to connect to the server" error. - I tried to go to the Orbicule website and got a "Server not found" error. - Hmmmm, this makes me wonder how they can track a stolen computer, if their server is not reliable / available. - A bit later their server worked again and I was able to install just fine. Maybe it was a temporary outtage. I hope so. I also wonder, with all the laptops that are stolen, whether the local police in the USA will be willing to work with an organization overseas. I sure hope so. According to a story on the Orbicule website, they did help recover several stolen laptops in North Carolina. I hope I never have to test it... [alert admin]

PithHelmet 2.8-79 (Mac OS X)

Wonderful! Works with Leopard.

Installed the new version today on my Leopard machine - the installer worked without a hitch, and PithHelmet is now back filtering out all the horrible ads! I can surf the web again! Thanks, Mike! [alert admin]

PithHelmet 2.6.7 (Mac OS X)

Arrrrrrrrrrgggg! Rats! Phooey!!!

Darn it, I forgot that the new Safari in Leopard would break PithHelmet!! Web viewing has become horrible again! How can I browse the internet without it?! Oh, the agony! I look forward to the new version which works with OS 10.5. This is one little gem I don't wish to browse without. [alert admin]

Safari 3.0 Beta breaks PithHelmet

I love PithHelmet. Surfing the web without it and having to see all those rotten ads is horrible! PithHelmet filters most of the ads out. But every time a new version of Safari comes out, it breaks PithHelmet. Safari 3.0 Beta is no exception. I hope the developer is able to soon bring out a new version which works with the Safari 3.0 Beta, or I'll have to go back to the old Safari, just to get PithHelmet back. [alert admin]

NeoOffice 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Wow! Nice!

My daughter occasionally has the need to read and write Word documents, but not often enough to warrant the purchase of MS Office. (I have MS Office, because my place of work requires it.) So I decided to try NeoOffice, and find it works very well! In some ways, better than MS Office! Just before installing NeoOffice, we were working on a document in MS Office on my MacBook Pro and MS Office suddenly quit! After downloading NeoOffice and installing it (PowerPC version) and applying the most recent Patch 3, I tried it, never crashed, and worked flawlessly. I may use NeoOffice instead of the "real" MS Office. There may be a difference between the PowerPC and Intel versions, but so far I'm very impressed with the PowerPC version I've used. [alert admin]

Email Merge 2.3.5 (Mac OS X)

Great application!

Email merge works very well, I use it quite often. I wish the developers would make a version which would send Rich Text with the Apple Mail program, but currently, it will only send Rich Text with Entourage, and in order to do that, you need to enter the tags by hand. Unfortunately, Entourage tends to mess up URLs. If it would do Rich Text with Mail, I would give it more stars. [alert admin]

PithHelmet 2.6.7 (Mac OS X)

Ah, back to sanity...

Don't blame PithHelmet for breaking when Apple changes Safari, as if Apple is willing to tell Mike Solomon about the changes and help him. Within a very few days there is always an update. PithHelmet is the greatest! I cannot imagine surfing the web without it. It's worth every penny! [alert admin]

Safari 4 plays nice after some behind-the-scenes work

Yes! Thanks for the simple fix. I wonder why that number needs to be hard coded into Pithhelmet? Every time Safari is updated, it breaks Pithhelmet. I love Pithhelmet, because it does such a nice job of getting rid of all those awful ads.

Safari 3.0 Beta breaks PithHelmet

I agree-if you have not yet paid the shareware fee, now is a great time to encourage Solomon. It's worth more than every penny to be able to get rid of all those ads!
