GPSUtility 2.00 (Mac OS X)
A good companion to RouteBuddy ![]()

I use this together with RouteBuddy ( http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/30483 ) and a Nokia LD-3W bluetooth unit. Interface is not the prettiest, but it works like a charm. And it's free! [alert admin]

RouteBuddy 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)
It works, but it is slow and clumbersome ![]()

I have tested RouteBuddy for several weeks, trying to use the software to plan my holiday. In short: The software works, and is OK on the route (version 1.2 allows address search, although it is poorly implemented), and the fact that it automatically connected to my BlueTooth GPS (the basic BlueTooth connection had been established through the Mac OS X BlueTooth Control Panel), was really neat. BUT... it's damn slow on a PBG4, zooming is extremely slow when you zoom to near-max, it takes a lot of space and occasionally it crashes. On the plus-side, it allows nice GPS integration with Google Earth / Google Maps. When at home I use it for giving me a GPS position for Google Earth/Maps, not for route planning, as getting the data from Google Earth/Maps mostly is faster than waiting for the program to render the data. When "on the move", it's nice to see where I am. And that works quite well. Basically, it's more a "position on a map" program me than a navigation program. Version 1.2 contains basic routeplanning (and with a bit of playing around I can even add addresses found in the address search...if I've turned them into way points first)...but if I have planned a route, it is confusing that the route does not adapt when I drive "wrong". It works, and it is probably the best option which you can buy for Mac OS X today (assuming that Route 66 is no longer available - I cannot find the software)....but there's still a long way to Prime Time, and I would personally not buy loose BlueTooth GPS just to work with RouteBuddy. /Sune - Denmark [alert admin]

SlimServer 6.5.0 (Mac OS X)
As such, the slimserver works as advertised, and controlled from the SqueezeBox it works great. The only downside is the user-interface, which is a web interface, which is not the worlds simplest or fastest, but hey - then we just use the free java remote :-) http://www.herger.net/slim/detail.php?nr=912&kategorie=slim Oh...and you do not even need a squeezebox. The slimserver is a great network music app. Tip: As for setup etc - make sure that you got enough capacity on your WLAN - a first generation airport does not seem to be enough...but after an upgrade to a 802.11g router everything works perfectly. SJphone 1.6b299a (Mac OS X)
Works like a charm (incl real VoIP support :) ![]()

Works perfectly for calling other SIP clients AND calling land-lines or mobile phones. The latter obviously requires a subscription at a VoIP provider. As simpe to setup as any VoIP software (that is, requires some input, but not really difficult), works very reliably, really good sound quality! In other words - a perfect telephone. Now I just pray for Address Book integration, as well as perhaps a menu-bar utility so I do not have to see SJPhone among my running programs. Oh - and perfect price, too :) /S. P.S. Danes looking for VoIP providers and config info, should look no further than Musimi.dk. [alert admin]

Crm4Mac 3.0b4 (Mac OS X)
Tried to figure this one out for 1 hour. IMAP set up according to vendor requirments, and functionality sounds nice. Alas, I have not been able to find any documentation, I cannot see any emails nor see how this app. should replace "Mail.app" in any way. I need to see what has arrived today (not necessarily project related) as well as to be able to search in my mailboxes. Finally, it is weird that events and contacts can be created from crm4mac, but seemingly not maintained without opening the Apple apps. Thus...good idea, definately something I could use...as such a nice "one-window" solution....but it doesn't seem to work at all. Thus...it has been trashed...again :( /Sune [alert admin]

iSquint 1.4.1 (Mac OS X)
Fine for iPod...but other output formats wanted
It works fine for iPod, for most files, although it sometimes returns an error which completely stops a batch conversion. Not a really big issue. BUT...I would be so happy if we could get some "advanced" output options - the standard QuickTime output config panel will do. then I would be able to usie iSquint for both my wife's iPod and my S60 Symbian phone, which also plays MP4 (but in a slightly more basic format - the format most/all podcasts are transmitted in). So...crossing my fingers :) Sune / Denmark [alert admin]

iCal Events 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Unfortunately still not Amnesty (X 10.3) compatible
Unfortunatly this widget still cannot be used with Amnesty under Mac OS X 10.3. I dunno about Amnesty for 10.4. Version 1.x could be launched, but showed no data - still, it did not crash Amnesty, as opposed to version 2.0/2.0.1 Looking forward to a version that works for me too :( /Sune [alert admin]

Logitech QuickCam 8.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I'm happy. I use my LogiTech Notebook Pro with my PowerBook G4 and my sister with her iBook G3 400 MHz. With iChatCAMUsb we can get 10+ picts/sec in a video conference across the atlantic. Not bad...not bad at all! So forget all the negative feedback. They really work fine under 10.3.x. Just *don't* turn on Face tracking etc. That can cause chaos in iChat. Other than that...great :) /Sune, Denmark [alert admin]

A small note forgotten above. When connecting to a GPS and waiting for a signal "for eternity", there is no way of seeing whats going on inside RouteBuddy. Instead I use GPS Untility 2 (freeware). Sometimes I can run this software along RouteBuddy (they both read the GPS data), sometimes the software fails untill I quit RouteBuddy. But it's nice and easy to use...although with a bit weird interface. Well...it's freeware :-) http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/24559 /S.

Actually fiddled with it for hours. But never managed to match the necessary MPEG 4 requirements. If anyone succeeds, do not hesitate to let me know the parameters for iSquint! /S.

Works excellently for batch conversion with some limitations: - Cancel button doesn't do anything when the job is started. It keeps on running through all steps - Job completed message not valid when enabling H.264 check-box. At least the result never comes out of the "/private/tmp" folder. - Experienced that files were forgotten in batch conversion (2 out of 10 were missing after "Job completed"). - It doesn't do folder scan. I've got my camera movies in…

Nvrslpn: ... If you have the app running you can not connect via the build in file browser that comes with mac. You have to shut down BlueElite in order to connect to the phone using apple sofetware...
Seems that you need to play a little with your prefs. If your phone supports multible "connections", this should not be a problem. In fact, it sounds like an "Error 40" to me. /Sune
