Xupport 3.5.0 (Mac OS X)

Does not install

I have bought Xupport in 2007 and was quite happy with it, until version 3.4.3; then the installer seemed to work well, however it failed to install the software; there simply was no file called Xupport anywhere on my harddisk. The very same happened with 3.5. I informed the developer in May 2008, however never received a reply, despite my reminding him at least once. So off the remaining files go from my harddisk. There are enough similar programs around that work. [alert admin]

HoudahSpot 2.3.2 (Mac OS X)

Wonderful piece of software

Since I downloaded HoudahSpot a few months ago I wonder how I could do without it. It is far superior to Spotlight, which I stopped using altogether. Searching is flawless, you can search for a range of various criteria. Searching is fast, delivers good results, and so far I did not find a single glitch or bug. A really well done piece of software. Well done, Houdah! [alert admin]

MailSteward 7.4.7 (Mac OS X)

Still slow

What's new for 7.4.7 states "peed improvement". To add 15 new mails to the index in 7.4.7 took me four (!) hours. Can't see any improvement. Have reported the problems with 7.4.2 to the developer, yet no reply in more than a week. I am about to give up on this app. [alert admin]

MailSteward 7.4.2 (Mac OS X)

Slow

I have tried the program for a feww weeks now; searching for emails is much better than in Mail.app. I am, however, rather dissatisfied with the speed of MailSteward: I get some 10 to 20 emails a day that are not spam. To add these to the index every few days takes some three to five hours (!), even when MS is the only process running on my G4 Powerbook with OS X 10.4.6. Not to mention the 2.5 days it too to create the first index of some 45,000 mail messages. Even starting the program is a slow process. I wish this would be improved in an otherwise fine program. Version 3.4.3 does not install.

Same here. I tried the Utilities folder, where Xupport 3.4.2 resides; installation had zero effect. Tried the Applications folder, the same. Something's wrong here. Wladimir OS X 10.5.2 on a MB Pro
