Network Stat 1.4 (Mac OS X)

Last refresh date bug

Nice, clean widget, quick and concise! Very good! Only bug is in the top refresh status line: if you click it to show the last refresh date/time, it uses the EU format, regardless of the preference settings. It *does* display the date correctly in the expanded view of the window; just not the refresh line at top. Even so, a top-notch widget!! [alert admin]

Kinemac 1.2.0b2 (Mac OS X)

Version Expired?

Downloaded from here as well as author's site directly; nothing but a splash-screen apology saying,

Version Expired:
Sorry. This version has expired. Please go to www.kinemac.com and check for new versions.

What's up with that? [alert admin]

QuickSlides 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Needs dual monitor support

Functions as advertised, but takes over both monitors, duplicating the slideshow in each. Upon completion, all previously open windows get redrawn to the main monitor. Hopefully, a minor bug fix, as I miss KPT QuickShow LT...this is almost there; good work so far. [alert admin]

contacts 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Broken in Jaguar?

contacts 1.0 worked splendidly, but now 1.1 appears broken in Jaguar:

*** -[ABAddressBook defaultNameOrdering]: selector not recognized
*** Uncaught exception: *** -[ABAddressBook defaultNameOrdering]: selector not recognized

The source won't compile, as it requires the xcodebuild dev util; ProjectBuilder chokes on the contacts.pbproj, as it was created with a later version of ProjectBuilder. I usually avoid complaining, but for such a nice and useful little freebie, an extra line warning Jaguar stragglers (like me) would be nice somewhere in the docs and/or here at VT.

Of course, I'm also open to the notion that I screwed this up myself somehow...suggestions welcomed.

Apple's 1.1.2 update is now gone!

Apparently, the 1.1.2 update had issues; my iTunes reports my brand-new iPhone is up-to-date with 1.1.1. Even this VT page has reverted back to 1.1.1.

installer woes

One more Panther failure here, too. In the Installer's "Select a Destination" window, every volume is marked with a red stop sign, and down in the info pane, it indicates "You cannot install this software on this volume. (null)".

Opera: the BEST

A single-keystrock "back" button is certainly not a unique feature to Opera: in Safari, for instance, it is the BACKSPACE key...one key...wow, amazing.

So what? if that is Opera's most notable 'feature', I'm not impressed enough to make it worth paying $$$ for.

MSN Messenger for Mac vs. Mac Messenger

MSN Messenger is from Micro$oft...Mac Messenger is from Spark Technologies. Same message service, but two different applications.

Re: Good Little App

Thanks for keeping both Hex->Color and Color->Hex. Agreed, the former won't be used as often, it's nice to have. FWIW, I'm able to open the saved colors drawer with Cmd+B (see menu item "Window->Show History")...not having a button to do it for me keeps the interface uncluttered. Thanks again!
