Mad Skills Motocross 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Credit for completing races?

Having purchased the program, there are a couple races that I've successfully completed but not been given credit for ("Almost - Try Again"). Without completing all the races in a series, one cannot advance to the next series. So basically, I'm stuck. The developer has been unresponsive to my inquiry about this. [alert admin]

VLC Media Player 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Crashes launching some HD mkv files

VLC has been my go-to app for viewing high-def x264 video in mkv containers, but v1.0.2 has crashed on several files that v1.0.1 opened without incident. Oddly, it *seems* to play some other files more smoothly than previous versions. I'll have to forward the crash log to the developers. [alert admin]

Bean 2.2.0 (Mac OS X)

Bug?

I'm unable to open a text document, select a few words, and change the selection to italic without the entire document changing (same for boldface, underline, etc.). I've tried this on several files with the same result. Am I missing something, or is this a serious shortcoming/bug on Bean's part? [alert admin]

MathMagic Pro for QuarkXPress 6.05 (Mac OS X)

Odd naming convention

It might be prudent to consider renaming this product "MathMagic Pro 6.04 for QuarkXpress". As it stands, it appears to be an add-on for a long-discontinued version of XPress. This applies to the InDesign version too. At least I was confused. =) [alert admin]

MKVToolNix 2.4.1 (Mac OS X)

Outdated link?

The linked download is for version 2.3. Where is v2.4.1? I can't locate it on the developer's site either. [alert admin]

VLC media player 0.9.2 (Mac OS X)

Something's changed...

I've been using VLC for ages, but I've run into a couple of problems with v0.9.2. When first opening .avi files, I'm presented with blurry, blocky, stuttering images that take several seconds to "settle in" and run smoothly (sounds like a caching problem?). Skipping ahead results in the same initial blockiness. Also, the skip-ahead button on the controller actually skips BACK a few seconds. I've tested this on several files from different sources and they all behave the same. Yes, I've deleted the preferences from earlier versions. Is anyone else experiencing diminished performance with this version? I'm running 10.4.11 on an iMac G5 2ghz. Not state-of-the-art, but perfectly adequate for what it's used for. [alert admin]

MediaInfo Mac 0.7.7.52 (Mac OS X)

Will not launch

v 0.7.7.50 (the latest available) will not launch on my 2ghz G5 iMac running 10.4.11. The icon bounces once in the dock, and the app immediately quits. No idea what the trouble could be. [alert admin]

MediaInfo Mac 0.7.7.52 (Mac OS X)

Feature request

While this program sounds extremely helpful, I'm on the lookout for an app that will examine a VIDEO_TS folder and tell me if the contents are in NTSC or PAL format, and maybe if the contents are 4:3 or 16:9 (I realize that menus can have a different ratio than the main feature). Just a thought... [alert admin]

Apple QuickTime 7.4.5 (Mac OS X)

No video with mp4 files not fixed

As has been discussed on Apple's Web site, as well as here on MacFixit, many users who upgraded to Quicktime 7.4 lost the ability to view mp4 video files - only the audio content would play. Unfortunately, this problem has not been addressed with v7.4.5. For the people who will invariably chime in with "Just use VLC" - we know. Using VLC doesn't change the fact that Quicktime is broken and no longer works as it should (and previously did). [alert admin]

DVDTheque 2.9.2 (Mac OS X)

How do you pronounce DVDTheque?

Sorry for the (possibly) stupid question, but I'm actually serious. Is it pronounced "DVD the Q", or "DVD Theque" like "check" or something else entirely? Help! [alert admin]

Must Continually Enter Serial Number

I was having the same problem with Leopard. Since performing a clean install of Snow Leopard, my serial number doesn't work at all ("too old") and have emailed Skytag for support. I've got 28 more days until FB times out. Fingers crossed. I hope they get the renaming droplets glitch figured out too.

well bummer.

If you uncheck "Use '.dvdmedia' extension" in the preferences, the program creates the usual AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders that work fine for burning.

Not buying

I thought the star rating system was for people who own and use an application and wish to review it? Isn't this just a commentary?

Something's changed...

I've now reverted to v0.8.6f (the only other version I had archived) and all the problems are gone. Something's definitely not right with the new version.

MacNFO Viewer

TextEdit doesn't read ASCI artwork which almost all nfo files contain, not to mention other non-compatible formatting. Not too difficult for you to understand, I hope.

dead issue

You've made a commentary, not a review. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but to give a product a bad rating because you prefer a competitor's isn't what the rating system is designed for. FWIW.

1.05 and 10.4.4

v1.05 appears to be FUBAR for recent version of Tiger. My screen also goes blank and I cannot continue. Fortunately, it appears that v1.04 is still available on GraphSim's Web site and it seems to work. Pretty crummy support, just the same.
