Yahoo! Widget Engine 4.0 (Mac OS X)
Recent Widgets still not working for me in v4.0
How do I get "recent widgets" to work? It's grayed out on all my powerPC macs. It's working on Intel macs. This problem persists in this recent update. I threw out the .plist file and started over and that didn't fix the problem. [alert admin]

OSS 3D 2.2 (Mac OS X)
Classic became unusable after installing Oss 3D 2.2 and was usable again after uninstalling. Bummer. I've got two programs I must run in classic mode, so once again I'll have to forgo OSS 3D, which I love when it works. 10.4.8 on a G5 dual 1.8 GHz. Classic 9.2.2 [alert admin]

Keyspan USB Server 1.3.4b4 (Mac OS X)
Non-beta release on Keyspan web site
www.keyspan.com has a 1.3.4 version that lacks the beta designation, so is apparently the final release. I don't know if it's different from the beta posted on versiontracker but it's there. They also recommend running their uninstal program before updating, which is posted at their web site along with the usb server program. [alert admin]

Share USB dongle software keys across lab ![]()

In our research laboratory, and we run several pieces of software that require usb dongle license keys. Since we almost never need to run the software on more than one machine at a time, but do run it on more than one machine one at a time, we move the dongles around - kind of a pain. But we now share them using the Kespan USB server and no more moving dongles around. It still only allows one copy to run at a time, so it doesn't break the liscense, it just saves time and effort and is much safer, since the dongles/licenses are >$1000 each. We can even run the programs remotely using the Active Discovery feature, where all you need is the IP address of the server and the Keyspan USB Server software. Great system! Works fine on 10.4.8 powerPC G4, G5 and Intel macs. [alert admin]

OSS 3D 2.1 (Mac OS X)
Running 10.4.8 on a G5, it's working well for me. Very glad to have it back, as this is an excellent program. It is rather CPU-intensive, however, using 7-8% of my dual 2.5 gHZ G5 CPU time. Thanks for continuing its development! [alert admin]

OSS 3D 2.01 (Mac OS X)
Global daemon puts annoying icon in dock. Shortcut key does not work. Sound burps when starting up other programs. Sound enhancements make it a worthwhile program WHEN it functions properly, but this release is not terribly useful as is. [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 7.0 (Mac OS X)
Downloaded directly from Apple. Songs, podcasts are not playing. The play button changes to a pause button and vice versa, but there is no sound and no movement of the progress indicator. OS 10.4.7 on a dual 2.5 ghz G5. [alert admin]

I think a beta this flawed (completely not working in some instances - mine), or any beta, and one that comes with an uninstall program, like this one does, aught to prepare the HD for reinstallation of the prior version. In other words, it should either 1. remove the .pkg file or 2. allow overwriting of the beta .pkg file when reinstalling the prior version, or whatever is required.

yeah, I figured that out finally, but you'd think the uninstal program they supply would take care of that little issue. I mean, if the uninstall program doesn't allow a new install, it's only doing half its job.

Yes, they are gone on my install too. But otherwise the program seems to be working perfectly now for me.

Yes, it was OSS 3D causing the problem. Running its uninstaller allowed iTunes to function. Thanks.

This did not work on a friend's Al Powerbook. 1.4.2 won't install because it says 1.4.1 must be installed first, but 1.4.1 IS installed, and trying to reinstall it does not succeed either. Apple has two 1.4.1 installers, neither of which fixes this problem.

iBook is running Panther, though that should not matter. Original disk boots just fine. All updates don't. Have tried multiple burns on multiple machines. The burned disks boot all other machines just fine.
