iStat Menus 1.3 (Mac OS X)
Great app! NOT ready for Snow Leopard
I've been using iStat Menus for about a year on Leopard. Love it. It's great. Can't say enough about it. Packs a wealth of info in a tiny space and makes it all meaningful. BUT, when I upgraded to Snow Leopard this morning, UISystemServer kept crashing every 30 seconds. iStat Menus is the culprit. Pity. Hated to uninstall it. Just hope a 10.6-compatible version comes out soon. I miss it already. [alert admin]

atMonitor 1.50.1 (Mac OS X)
...to be in the Applications (or Utilities) folder? On my system, that's limited to applications that came with OS X. There's another folder for third-party apps, but atMonitor won't run in that one. Pity. [alert admin]

DNS Enabler 3.0.3 (Mac OS X)
The point of DNS Enabler is to put a user-friendlier face on BIND, the UNIX DNS-serving utility. This is not an easy task, and DNS Enabler does an adequate job. If you study the documentation, which is reasonably good, and pay close attention to all the examples, AND your needs don't vary too far from those examples, then you can set BIND up without too many headaches. It is still possible (even easy) to produce a configuration that BIND finds unacceptable, and refuses to run. DNS Enabler offers no help at all in this situation. Now to the business practices of Cutedge Systems. I paid for and ran DNS Enabler on Tiger for about two years, and was reasonably happy with it. It was quirky, but manageable. Then I upgraded my server (1.25-GHz G4 Mini, nice little box) to Leopard. No DNS; my whole LAN was suffering. I tried to launch DNS Enabler, and was told it would not function under 10.5, that I needed to upgrade. I downloaded the latest version, 3.0.3, but it would not accept my serial number. It insisted I buy a new one, for another $15. [There isn't much in the way of improved functionality; it just works with the new OS.] I grumbled but paid. However, version 3.0.3 doesn't read the configuration files of the previous version. 2.1.1 can export those files to a format that 3.0.3 CAN import, but 2.1.1 won't run anymore, so that's out. I spent many hours recreating my DNS configuration, and wrestling with the lack of help offered by DNS Enabler. Not happy. The upshot is that I have removed DNS Enabler from my server. It won't be coming back. Webmin (http://www.webmin.com/) works fine, for free. It requires a little more knowledge about DNS and BIND, but then when it came down to it, so does DNS Enabler, with many more headaches. [alert admin]

This widget is just an empty demo version. It contains no actual game data. To get one with real information, you have to pay for it. [alert admin]

...could this firmware have over DD-WRT? Linksys ought just to license it already. [alert admin]

VirtueDesktops 0.54 Beta 5 (Mac OS X)
Why is this showing up now? The date on the application file is 13 June 2007. And last I looked at the developer's site, they had stopped development due to Leopard / Spaces. Have they reconsidered? That would be nice, as VirtueDesktops has some features that Spaces lacks. [alert admin]

Fonts.com Search 1.0 (Mac OS X)
The widget has a single text field and a button. Type in some text, click 'Search', and the widget opens your browser to fonts.com, and searches for the text string. It escapes me how this is better than a bookmark to the fonts.com search page. [alert admin]

SvnX 0.9.10 (Mac OS X)
I've been using SvnX for a major software development effort for nearly two years. It's a fine, solid piece of work. The latest revision adds some nice features. I've tried a few other clients/GUI wrappers, but keep coming back to SvnX for its simplicity and ease of use. [alert admin]

The meaning of your comment is not without merit. But the way you present it makes me think you are more concerned with demonstrating your superiority than with conveying any information. How old are you, twelve?

Do you some information to impart, or are we just to accept your criticisms at face value, with not even anectdotal evidence to back them up? In other words, put up or shut up.

When looking for fonts this is a handy short cut in a hurry.
Only if you're looking for a font by name, or partial name. When I need a font, I usually know what I want it to look like, but rarely know the name. This widget would help me about 5% of the time. Like I said, dumb.

Blatantly a message from the developers, or some one they got to write it for them. So clearly marketing-ese, it's amazing they bothered. How stupid do they think we are?

My, but that was helpful. The original commenter was right, and all you've added is abuse. Is there some kind of problem here?

You must be a complete moron. I've been using parallels every day for nearly a year to run all my work apps in addition to AutoCAD and 3D Studio MAX.
I'm also quite satisfied with Parallels. But I can be sympathetic to one who has been having trouble. Then again, I'm not an asshole.

And of course you're so moral, forthright, and upstanding that you would always wipe clean any disk you bought second-hand, and never, ever even look at what might be on it.
Putz indeed.
