Microsoft Expression Media 2.0.1477.0 (Mac OS X)
I was terrified when MS bought this product. It was a pretty good program that could be improved. The iViewMedia people were not especially responsive but they did appear to improve the product. Then MS bought it. This version introduced a problem by making something that worked fine quit working. Try opening the catalog fields under the Organization tab. Can't be done now which undermines the value of the organization function. But, hey, MS added a Virtual Earth under the View menu item. Wow! That's an addition I've been waiting for to beef up my catalog program. HELP! Somebody who cares please buy this from MS. [alert admin]

Apple Pages 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)
On the whole Pages is a nice, well thought out word processor. It would be exactly what I want to use if it weren't sooooooo slow. I'm running OS 10.4 on a 500 mhz processor with 1 gig of memory and Pages runs intolerably slow on it. Click and wait 5 seconds to see a cursor. Type three or four words and wait a few beats for them to appear on the screen. This software is an embarassment for Apple. They need to pull it, fix it, and apologize for the pain they've caused. Symantec Norton AntiVirus 10.0.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I bought this as an upgrade and mistakenly ordered the Windows version rather than the one I needed for the Mac. As soon as I discovered the mistake I tried to contact Symantec. I spent a frustrating hour going in circles on their website looking for a telephone number for the store. I sent an email to "customer service" and got an unhelpful automated reply. I was finally able to cancel the order. I get a refund in 5 to 7 days. I doubt that I'll buy the update. Companies that are afraid to give me a telephone number or a snail mail address are on my list of ones that I'm VERY reluctant to do business with. [alert admin]

Microsoft Virtual PC 6.1.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
I'm down to on app that has to run on the PC...Quickbooks. It ran fine before I updated to OS 10.3. I had major problems printing before the update. Now I can print, but even that function is INCREDIBLY SLOW. [alert admin]

Apple iMovie 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)
a GREAT program, added a better idea for editing sound, and turned the whole thing into a program that's slow as molasses and virtually unusable. [alert admin]

to make amends and apologize. The company is trying very hard to create a good product and it is responsive. I tried 5.2 and didn't have any problems. The price is right. I was having a bad day. [alert admin]

iView MediaPro 1.4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
iView MediaPro for about a year. It's one of the best software buys I've ever made. Great program that just gets better and better. [alert admin]

Description above says it is "stunningly simple." I've been working with video for 30 years. Premier is "powerful," but stunningly simple it ain't. [alert admin]
