VisualHub 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

1.1.1 does not work with the serial number

I have emailed to the developers twice, mentioning that the serial number they provided when I purchased 1.1.1 version, does not work with it. I emailed them first on 27 August 2006 (when I purchased it online) and chased again on 2 September 2006. The serial ONLY works with their older 1.1 version. Although Visualhub seems great with the features and has an elegant interface, if the software cannot recognize the legitimate serial number, and no reply from them, that does not bode well for a paid customer. If that's the case, perhaps it is better to simply use their FREE iSquint and convert to MP4 at the highest resolution, and then take an extra step with Apple QuickTime Player to convert to other formats. Still waiting. [alert admin]

Seashore 0.1.7 (Mac OS X)

Does not work on G3?

Strange, but Seashore does not work on my ibook G3, although it worked flawlessly on my office Powerbook Ti. I vaguely thought that the older versions worked on G3. Running the terminal command with Seashore yielded an "incompatible cpu" error. Also strange because GIMP, the OS X build, works on G3 and G4, with no problems. If Seashore is based on GIMP code, which part "became" incompatible? Curious, since Seashore would be such a great tool for G3 users, because photo editing is not something some of us needs all the time, and that might mean a lot of G3 users. bless [alert admin]

Apple QuickTime 7.0 (Mac OS X)

No sound on 10.3.9

Removed all third-party QuickTime components to ensure that none of the alternative movie plug-ins that are said to be incompatible with QT7 are in the folder, and upgraded (and PAID for) to QT7. The video is much smoother than QT 6.5.x, but there were NO SOUND! None of the footage I have will play sound, whether it be MP4, MPEG1, MPEG2 or plain old Sorenson 3 MOV. Immediately downloaded QT6 Reinstaller, and went back to QT6. Now movies play back just fine again. Sad. [alert admin]

Noise Ninja 2.1.2 (Mac OS X)

One of the best in noise reduction

I use a variety of old and new images (including some from the 5-megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC1, the Leica Digilux 2 twin), and Noise Ninja just cleans up the image as best as technology can possibly allow. The images look clean, and make the 5-megapixel images from my prosumer LC-1 digicam approach as much as possible, native images generated by even some of the DSLRs I have seen friends use. Great for general purpose image clean up. Recommended. [alert admin]

Cepstral Voices 3.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Really better than Apple's "robot" voices

The cepstral David voice is great (IMHO better than their female voices) and I am using it to replace the Apple built-in voices, which at best sound like robots in old 1970s movies. I'm using the David voice for my voicemail message and virtual greeting. [alert admin]

PDF Browser Plugin 2.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Much more efficient than Acrobat Reader 7 plugin

Acrobat 7 is just too hefty a program to simply read PDF files in the browser. This plugin is much more efficient, for most PDF files. If there is a need for more complex PDFs, simply download and read later. [alert admin]

XRay Video 4.1.4 (Mac OS X)

Try bbDEMUX for splitting MPEG files

I too own this product. The old 3.x version seems to work a lot better, and I tried 4.x to no avail, and don't seem to be able to get files converted properly. I have given up and now try to use bbDEMUX to split MPEG-1 streams to audio and video (demux). Thereafter, I can easily use Cleaner 6 or the regular Quicktime to export to formats I need, including that of using "Add Scaled" function in QuickTime player to merge back converted streams (usually Sorenson 3 and QD audio). Gimp.app 2.2 (Mac OS X)

Wiorks great on ibook and powerbook Ti just fine!

I deleted the old 2.x user files, and launched the GIMP 2.2. It takes a while, and then it will run through the installer, before the new 2.2 is installed. The new installed 2.2 will run very slowly during the startup stage for the first time, but subsequently, the launches are much faster. No problem at all. [alert admin]

Good

hi mate I found out that you can go to the InputManagers folder and open the package of Saft.bundle, and locate Info.plist (look for SaftSupportedSafariBuild and change the Item 1 to 522.12.1 (the Safari 3.03 build number) from the previous 522.12. Then go within Resources and locate Info-Saft.plist, and change the same. Restart Safari and it seems to work fine. I am sure the good author of this product will soon update, but in the interim,…
