FF6 RAM Editor 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Excellent program

Final Fantasy 6 (aka Japanese FFIII) has always been temperamental with cheats. This program allows bypass the problems of a lot of cheat option problems. My only quibbles were so minor I'd hesitate to drop a star for any of the criteria. However for constructive criticism purposes I will list my thoughts. While technically freeware, it 's is still nagware. Don't panic if you see a shareware dialog requesting you register it pop up when you first open it. Registration is free, though reading that upfront would have nice. It'll erroneously display crystal shield if you set the quantity of the item after the item ID but that easily correctable by selecting the item ID and pressing return. Last and most definitely least have also loved to see descriptions for the various items you can affect but that isn't really a necessary feature and it probably might bloat a fairly clean application if that was done. Chax 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Excellent program, iffy version

Had to revert back to 1.3. Version 1.3.1 of Chax immediately caused iChat to start displaying NSRangeException errors. [alert admin]

Saft 8.1.7 (Mac OS X)

Like the Features, Hate the stability

I tried out the demo version of Saft 8.1.7 and was impressed with what it can do but severely bothered by how unstable it made Safari 2.0.2. Safari often ended up freezing within the first couple minutes of launch with the plugin installed. Removal of Saft cleared up many of those stability isssues. [alert admin]

AcidSearch 0.11 (Mac OS X)

One Caveat away from 5 stars

Works great for me. I've only found one issue. It doesn't play well with apostrophes. If you search a word such as Edy's AcidSearch links to: "file:///Library/Application%20Support/SIMBL/Plugins/AcidSearch.bundle/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/jsconsole.html?" & displays this in the browser: "JavaScript Console" "If you did not expect to see this page, there is probably a JavaScript error in the current search channel." DMG Tool 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Current Info

Information I've gotten from version I recently downloaded. Software is at Version 3.0.2 and was released 03.25.2004. What's new in this version: No more drag and drop crashing. Japanese localization. Bugs found: Cannot use default Save Location "$home/Desktop" because no disk image can be created at a nonexistent location. (Noticeable if you click the "Use for drag and drop operations" checkbox.) Workaround: Choose a valid Save Location "Quit after drag and drop operations" checkbox does not work. [alert admin]

DivX Doctor II 2.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

My Thoughts

It's a great little app which works as advertised for me. Its lacking a couple of features though. It has no long filename support. (Annoying but not critical) Files with AC3 encoded sound aren't yet supported. (Only recently been seeing such files so although there is an AC3 codec support may not be fully implemented.) DVDAttache 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Decent program with some annoying bugs

Love that its free. The Amazon search feature works correctly. (Too bad Amazon has incorrect or missing info half the time.) Seems to duplicate your records every other launch and correct the duplication on the launch after that. Artwork thumbnail imports disappear after you quit (Clicking image area where thumbnail was reveals popup with full sized missing image.) [alert admin]

It's both Freeware & Shareware

The decoder aspect (Marketed as DivX) of the codec has long been and remains freeware. The encoder aspect (Marketed as DivX Pro) of the codec has long been and remains shareware with a trial period.

You don't need this software if you are running Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard)

Maybe not but it does have some small advantages like encryption and a sort based on file name as well as manual sort.

Oops Correction

It's Final Fantasy VI in the Super Famicom (Japanese SNES) & PSX version and Final Fantasy III on the US SNES console instead of the other way around like I said above.

BTW, Disabling ad blocking helped but ad blocking is a big reason why I'm trying out Saft. (I was not using regex so even if there are issues on that front it wasn't the problem in my case.) That said please add SafariNoTimeout 1.1 to the list programs/plugins that are currently incompatible with Saft.

Ouch I forgot I had SafariNoTimeout. Looks like it was an issue with having Safari 2.0.2, SafariNoTimeout 1.1 and Saft 8.1.7 all running together.

No PithHelmet here. The only other plugin I have for Safari is AcidSearch. The crashing occurred even after removing AcidSearch and doing things like erasing Safari's Preferences.
