Pixologic ZBrush 2.0 (Mac OS X)
ZBrush 3.12 for Mac is finally going to be released Sept 29, 2008...
I love ZBrush, and purchased it nearly 10 months ago with the expectation that v3 for the Mac was eminent. It has taken a long time, but Pixologic has finally scheduled v3.12 for the Mac to be released the end of September 08... It will be so nice to not have to use the Windows version in Parallels emulation mode which was very slow and lacking some features. Yes, its pricey, but a fantastic artists tool for 3d and 2.5d projects and those who use Maya or other highend 3D applications. Finally.............. [alert admin]

A Better Finder Rename 8.0.0.0b4 (Mac OS X)
Having been an ABFR user since the days of OS9, I have found that The Better Finder series has been an indespensible set of utilities that has always done a superb job. The "free" products mentioned in the previous post are fine, but nowhere near as useful, easy to use, predictable, and safe to use. If you have a lot of files, media or whatever, you can't go wrong with ABFR. You'll also find that the developer is very responsive to users... [alert admin]

Microsoft Expression Media 1.0.9038.0 (Mac OS X)
I haven't seen as much degradation as usually accompanies MS involvement...
I had been using iView for several years, and was very happy to abandon Extensis Portfolio which was a real dog. I rebuilt all my catalogued photos which was over 20,000 files back then. While iView had some quirks and speed issues, it was delightful compared to Portfolio. Then came the bad news of MS buying out iView. All the messages from the iView people (Mac centric as they were) assured us that the product would continue to be Mac centric and be operated autonomously (read that as not burdened by the MS Bloat Factory). Of course, with my extensive investment in the catalogs already created, I had to continue with the now Expression Media program... which early on, was just a relabeled iView. I haven't seen that much change in the program (except the shameless branding by MS) and am not sure what impact the MS Bloat Factory has had on the product "YET"... and hopefully they won't entirely ruin it. Aperture, which I use daily. is definitely NOT a cataloging contender, thought it is a handy Q&D media importer and has some of the nice features like creating a quick web-view, or emailing a bunch of quickly tweaked RAW pics. iPhoto, don't even consider unless you still have your training wheels attached. The price $199...is highway robbery, but seems to be a trend started by Extensis with their outrageously priced Portfolio. But, then if you really need to catalogue a large inventory of pictures (5,000++) then the cost becomes a tradeoff of your time vs the $'s spent. I'm sticking with Expression Media, for now, and hope that MS doesn't totally destroy it and my past cataloging efforts with it. Maybe if we plead our case to the MS "God of Bloatware" we can save this program... Comments....please....if I am wrong, reply to this post... [alert admin]

It may be a One Trick Pony....but it does that one trick supremely well and with infinite variation and excellent result. Once you learn its quirky interface you will come to appreciate the quality of this app. It may be pricey, but if you do any real quantity of disk labeling, you will recoup your investment in a very short time and be pleased with the results. Microspot MacDraft Pro 5.6 (Mac OS X)
Although this program is showing its age in terms of features and interface it is much, much faster than it used to be. I use the program primarily for quick layouts and for helping visualize ideas. The dimensioning features are great (once you get the layer scales figured out and correctly configured). I was having a problem with v5.61 running on my MacPro, so I went to their tech support page and put in a tech support request. They responded in less than 8 hours with a link to a new version v563 which they are about to release officially...problem solved. [alert admin]

The new features include using Yojimbo as an alternative to Mark/Space Memos or Entourage Notes, and some features for Treo users like call log, SMS, and Video sync. * If you are UPGRADING from a prior MissingSync version ...be very carefull to follow the install instructions "TO THE LETTER" or you may suffer some data loss or sync problems. * If you do follow the instructions (shown in RED in the installer instructions and the README) you shouldn't have any problems at all. SyncTwoFolders 1.1.4 (Mac OS X)
It could be that the reviewers below and others who can't get this to work properly haven't read the documentation or they have left the SIMULATION mode switched on. I haven't had any problems. I do wish that the log report was a bit easier to read...the symbols used are not very intuitive or very well explained. [alert admin]

A Better Finder Attributes 4.3.5 (Mac OS X)
What started out as a one-trick pony has evolved and keeps getting better. I've been using the Better Finder Series since the early days. Frank has continued to support the whole series and continues to improve the user interface and functionality. I have NEVER had a problem with any of the series and use ABFAttributes and ABFRenamer almost on a daily basis. Products like the one mentioned by the review following this one (Miana) are still in the one-trick phase and although it may do that one-trick well, it still isn't as funtional or elegant as ABFA. IntelliScanner Software 1.2 (Mac OS X)
Where did the 4 star rating come from??
As of this moment, there is only 1 review of this software, which did not give a star rating at all. Yet VersionTracker is showing 4 a star rating? What gives? I cannot rate this product as I haven't tried it, but am concerned that VTs ranking will be misleading to those that may want to try it. For now, I'll stick to Delicious Library with its support for both bluetooth barcode readers and iSight. [alert admin]

Discus 4.03 (Mac OS X)
Problem with the .sit distribution
I've used Discus for a very long time and highly recommend it for everything to do with disc labeling. I, too, bought the v4 upgrade way back in February 2006...and have been waiting for the final v4 release. This particular release has package problems in that when unstuffed, there is an icon-less application file that when put in the Application with the v4 art file, should run. However, it also needs the art database that was provided with the v4.02 beta... MagicMouse really needs to fix this distribution and at least provide a ReadMe in the .sit file.... or better yet, do their distribution using .dmg files instead of the obsolete Stuffit format [alert admin]

Ditto...Sorry, but this still sucks...!
Yup... I've installed it on three different Macs and have experienced the root folder phenomenon each time. Logitech really needs to fix their installer app... there is NO excuse for this sloppy work. Additionally, the approach they take to "program" their remote is a resource HOG. Why is the configuration routine run over the web. What's wrong with having a REAL application that sends/receives updates to Logitech's server only as needed, with everything else run…

How about writing a useful comment....
How about writing a useful comment instead of just *censored*ing. Once the update was installed, did the software work as it should or did it crash, bomb, etc...? How about keeping your *censored* mode focused at the company (by maybe writing directly to them) instead of the people reading this site who are trying to determine whether the update is a good thing, or should be avoided.

I'll bet that you didn't follow the instructions...
If you actually READ the intaller instructions, you would find that you are supposed to do a complete and final sync of your device (and .Mac) and then do a BACKUP DATABASE on both your iCal and Address Book (found in each of those apps). ... ONLY then, are you supposed to actually install the new version of MissingSync... THEN, during the first sync with the v6, you need to have the Calendar, Tasks, and…

YES...post beta comments here...!!
The purpose of the comments here on Version Tracker are for the END USER not for the developer. These comments warn me about betas that I may not have the time to work with. Developers should read the comments here as well as provide their own bug-gathering mechanism and should consider posting replys to comments here. I, for one, don't have time to visit every developer's individual site to follow beta development.

$49 is CHEAP considering Hamrick's continuous efforts...
I paid for my VueScan license many years ago and continue to get amazing value (and quality updates/upgrades) from the software. If you can really use a cheap scanner and be happy, by all means do it, but you'll be even happier with that cheap scanner using Vuescan instead of the (usually) poor bundled driver and software...additionally, you can ALSO use that old SCSI scanner at the same time and get some higher quality scans…

Seeing that this thread started when garymm questioned my having 6 tivos...I had to jump back in here. Not only do I have 6 tivos (actually now 8) but also have 6 Replay 4500 Series (the ones that still skip commercials and have controls on the front panel). Its true that Replays have a bunch of nice features (true streaming instead of copying like in TivoHomeMedia, unlimited pause, commercial skip, DVArchive, etc)...but the Tivo is…

How do you serve on a beige G3?
Yup...I'm running OSX on a 333MHz G3 with 448 meg of RAM...runs just fine. I used XPostFacto to install it back at 10.1 and haven't looked back since. This is my oldest machine running X though, and I don't use it for anything else but serving iTunes and Pictures to Tivo's and Slimp3s.

I don't take issue with your plea for disclosure...
But I DO take issue with irresponsible "flame" commentary on this site. Nowhere in your original post do you say that you "just want disclosure"... yet in your second post, you say "All I want is disclosure. If you want to risk code that patches fine" .
How about adequate disclosure in YOUR commentary instead of trashing the particular app, haxie, or programmer by saying something like "Shame on you Unsanity"...
You could have…
