SOHO Notes 5.7.1 (Mac OS X)

As promised...

A short time ago I told the developers about a problem Syncing when there are a lot of sub-folders. They said it would be fixed in the next release, and sure enough it works great again. I have been using SOHO Notes for some time now and it is a vital part of my work tools. Every-time a new product comes out, such as Yojimbo, I give it a try. But so far this is the best organizer of "Notes" I have found. Yojimbo is not a bad product at all, in fact I have recommended it to several of my clients. But it will never have sub-folder support. This is a choice of the developer, and I completely understand why they have done so. But I need sub-folders and SOHO Notes does this efficiently and nicely. Features like .Mac syncing and Backup are vital to a program like this. I trust it with too much valuable information for it not to have these features. The best part about them is I can set it and forget it. I know that my information will be synced across multiple computers and if something goes wrong, I am covered. [alert admin]

Drive Genius 1.5.1 (Mac OS X)

I am an ACN and...

I am an ACN (Apple Consultants Network) member and I use this product several times a week with great results. In fact, I have used it on my own Macs several times. Boot time of any CD will always be slower that you normally see from a hard drive. The boot times of Drive Genius are typical of any utility CD. I have followed ProSoft's advice and have created a boot Protege FW drive from MicroMat. This boots extremely quick. While I have almost never had to contact ProSoft Tech support, on the rare occasion I did, they have been very helpful. As far as the actual program goes, it does exactly what they claim. If your are a tech, this it is the best $249 you can spend for this type of utility. If you are an individual user, the $99 is a bargain, compared to what a shop would charge to do the same thing. DesktopCalendar 0.8 beta 1 (Mac OS X)

A must have...

I have been using this software for years now. I had began to think there would never be another update. Not that it needed one, as it has been rock stable. I find it much easier to have this configurable calendar on my desktop, that to use the Widget. [alert admin]

iOrganize 6.1.0 (Mac OS X)

Mind reading

I was literally thinking to myself, while using version 5, I really wish there was a way to have sub-categories. Al low and behold here comes version 6 with just that. But the developers didn't stop there. They gave us highlighting. At first I though this was just a throwaway feature, but now I use it all the time, it really helps find key point quickly. I wonder what they are working on next... [alert admin]

StarGate Counter 0.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Underbar

Great use for a widget. Simple and does what it says. Just make sure you stand back from the Stargate when chevron 7 gets lit up. [alert admin]

Bursting Hearts Screensaver 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Fun ScreenSaver and great support

I contacted the author, and within a few minutes I had a new version emailed to me fiing the log problem mentioned below. Besides that small, and corrected problem, this is a great screensaver. It never has one area of the screen displayed for too long. It is also, smal, fast, and looks great. [alert admin]

Kid Pix Deluxe 3X 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Macworld demo

After seeing a demo at Macworld, I was quite impressed. Mackiev's other products, such a The Print Shop, are of the same high quality of Kid Pix Deluxe. Granted I am not 4 years old, but I do have a 4 year old, and she can't wait for our copy. [alert admin]

Suggestion

If you look on the Version Tracker description page it does say that it needs 10.4.

Great app, BUT missing one much needed feature

If this happens again, just Select-All, Copy it and then re-open the document, Paste and Save. Then you work will not be lost forever.
