Album Art iMagethon 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Nice...

Bit of a fiddle and currently a one-trick pony...But worth it for nowt. Here's hoping the developer(s) add a few twists, tumbles and turns. Might jiggle the core animation script myself. [alert admin]

Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X 6.5 (Mac OS X)

Bloody marvellous (in the sarcastic sense)

Some time after installing this I find a corrupted Unix executable related specifically to NTFS for Mac OS X. I do not consider this to be at all acceptable in an application which plays with file systems and then dumps broken/corrupted files in usr. I therefore deleted the app and requested my money to be refunded. I take back my five stars until Paragon sort this out. [alert admin]

Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X 6.5 (Mac OS X)

Bloody Marvellous

The tools to aid Boot Camp just get better and better - But why can't Apple provide this interoperable file systems seamlessness for free? After all, Mr. Jobs did harp on with promises of dozens of secret features in Leopard which never materialised upon release) [alert admin]

EyeTV 2.5.1 (Mac OS X)

Lost dual tuner support

I'm in England so this problem may not manifest itself elsewhere but is a heads-up. Keep your copy of 2.5 just in case. Since the 2.5.1 update I've been having no end of trouble with two DVT tuners (one Firewire the other USB2). It would appear that 2.5.1 does not support two tuners simultaneously as I can only auto tune one or the other tuners in devices. I have yet to get both tuners working. Also cannot get "UKTV History" and "Dave" channels!? Since "Dave was" introduced on Freeview UKTV History has been history. Dave tunes in History wont. If you do get two tuners working, please let me know how. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.5 (Mac OS X)

I bit my lip...

I had absolutely no upgrade/install problems: 10/10 for that. Should that be X/X? On reaching the new Leopard desktop I disliked the Menu bar and Dock. However, after using 10.5 for a few days the new Menu bar suddenly worked...it worked! The translucency makes the whole desktop more ethereal, blending subtly with any chosen desktop image. Translucency creates a greater sense of space in which active or background windows float. Nothing is given undue focus other than that on which you are working. Your choice of background picture will behave differently...if you want solidity, you can have it. Give the new Menu bar time...really. The revised Dock I am still not happy with as focus on active apps is reduced with the vague little blue blobs and that reflective "surface" is just plain silly. Real-estate usage is identical to Tiger. Yes, I can definitely see what the designers have attempted to do; which is to create a feeling of expanded space and depth to the desktop. Some tweaking from Apple is in order to address user choice issues (for those who really don't "get it" or can't live with it). Apart from that, I think Apple have very nearly achieved what they set out to accomplish... spacialisation. OS X has become the TARDIS of OS's. Many under the bonnet features are too cool to address here... We'll see their enormous worth in time. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 3.0 beta (Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Very stable and past on my PC's

Great... a real alternative to Mozilla. Excellent features: try a "find" (yeah, at last, a revelation in browser page searching) or drag a tab out from its bar to create a new browser window and drag that browser windows tab to any browser window tab bar and it is re-united. Faster than Mozilla and IE and much better memory foot-print. Very powerful browsing features and no crashes on Vista or XP SP2...Good beta with better to come, I'm sure. [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 4124.0 (Mac OS X)

Free upgrades for a year..no site info or link found, though.

I bought a pre-Xmas special offer version of Parallels with free upgrades or a year (through 2007). However, I can't find a link on their web-site through which I can download the free upgrade to version 3. Anyone have a correct URL? Thanks. [alert admin]

UNO 1.5 (Mac OS X)

Nip...Tuck...

Oi! Jobs... Whilst you've been putting all your energies into building extensions, like iPod, AppleTV, etc., the cowboys have been in and trashed your interior decorating. This fine app does a great job at covering the shoddy and botched DIY interface look OSX has taken on. Will Leopard show further degenerative signs of inconsiderate jerry-builders when the scaffold comes off?... I wonder. Consistent system-wide themes, Apple, can you manage that? [alert admin]

EyeTV 2.3.2 (Mac OS X)

No Pic in Pic

The Pic in Pic feature is not working on my Mac as all I get is a box that displays "No Content" - GPU is ATi 9800Pro 128 RAM AGP all the minimum requirements and more beside. 10.4.8 OS X with all the very latest updates from Apple... Can Elgato never release an update without introducing more bugs than features? Nice as this app is...and it is nice...the programmers need to find some competent beta testers to iron out bugs before placing their software for general consumption. [alert admin]

Lost dual tuner support

I have sorted the problem by deleting all my account library preferences files (for all users) together with the EyeTV app and all support files. Then I did a fresh EyeTV install and set-up tuning the 400/410 first and then pressing "back"wards on the set-up assistant and changing the device to Terratec then tuning that device separately. Quite a long-winded procedure I have never had to do before. Still can't get UKTV History though :(

Botheration!

Since you seem incapable of being anything other than rude and personal, and as you cannot fathom how Apple have buggered up CoverFlow, tell me... [A] How do you search for an artist/CD via Apple iTunes CoverFlow? [B] How do you add artwork? Elegantly! (Not via the poxy paste one by one "Get Info" route that's lame) There's no simple contextual cut/copy/paste [*] How do you go to fullscreen mode and browse that way. To my mind Apple have…

Your excellence...

Well, with CoverFlow (you are aware of this app?) one could right-click on the LP/CD cover image and do an Amazon/internet search or cut copy paste. Apple do not provide that functionality now they have built CoverFlow into iTunes 7. Your lovely app does locate more cover artwork than the Apple iTunes site. But I still have no quick/simple way of adding artwork with iTunes or GimmeSomeTune; I have to open the iTunes (cd) info…

No problems...

I wasn't aware any browser passed the Acid 2 test yet. But Safari is very close. The AT2 smiley looks better with Safari on Mac than anything on my PC. And Safari now renders far quicker on my Dual 1.42 G4 than Mozilla Firefox does on my AMD 64X2 4800+ with an nVidia GeForce7800 GTX... Go figure!
