MPlayer OS X 1.0pre8rc5 (Mac OS X)
You can restore full functionality for Mplayer by downloading an older version of the programm. I have used ftp://ftp1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/MPlayer-dev-CVS-050904.dmg from February. The image containes the progamm. The about box states that I use 1.0pre8, and the (old) player shows the new interface. [alert admin]

Widget, The World Watcher 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Seems to be a folder action and works as advertised. I hope Apple will incorporate something like this in an upcoming patch. [alert admin]

OSXplanet 0.75 (Mac OS X)
There is a new menu item on the right side of the menu bar where you can find the Read Me, documentation, individual updates and the preferences. So this app behaves well and in accordance to the Mac interface guidelines, I think (not an expert). Very nice done; an impressive look. [alert admin]

The new version seems to have fixed the missing letters issue; even ä ö ü ß are displayed correctly now. Great little software which works as advertised. There seems to be a little issue when NewsTicker tries to connect to RSS feed which is currently not available. Then the program seems to be hung while loading the feeds; you have to force quit and trash the preferences to get it to work again. [alert admin]

NewsTicker 0.4b (Mac OS X)
At last a news ticker like the kde new ticker for Mac OS X. This beta looks very promising. But the program seems not to be able to display the letters ä ö ü ß (absolutely essential for German RSS-feeds). There are even normal letters missing randomly. [alert admin]
