Knowbody TuneIT 3.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Re: now this is some idea

Hi I'm Søren Rehné from Knowbody. I can understand your consern regarding registration for the product. But you will not get spammed! We are a small company, that earn money on making customer specific developments. So we are not producing that many products anyway. E.g. NO risk of being spammed. But there is another reason for the email. Working in the graphical industry for more than 15 years, I've seen a lot of plugins and Extensions where customers forgot to check for updates. Especially in the good old Quark days (before we moved completely to InDesign) we found that extensions could regulary crash Quark. The updates were important to avoid the crashes. By registering the product we are able to inform you of important updates. And there is another reason: Our plugins are ALL: - Demo version - FULL version - DEBUG version This can be done due to the use of the KLiC plugin. We are actually able to help customers, that have a problem with one of our products, in a way, that even Adobe has found interesting: If a customer problem arrises the customer can allow us to make a live debug while he/she is running the plugin. This way we can solve problems that might not arrise from the plugin but might be a customer specific environment problem. Example: We had a customer that suddenly complained that the plugin would not work at all. We started the debug and 2 min. later the KLiC plugin streamed us live info that showed, that the FILE SERVER was not able to handle special characters. The customer had just updated a PC and it was no longer able to support Mac's with æøå. So a problem that we would NEVER be able to see at Knowbody was now solved in 2 min. The customer was VERY pleased with our performance. So basically I just wanted to let you know, that it isn't for any spamming purposes... we simply want to make sure that our customers have a good experience with our products. All the best from Denmark. Søren Rehné [alert admin]

Knowbody Label It 1.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Labels are textboxes in a separate layer

Hi! Happy to see that you also was in the need of this plugin. The labels are all added in a separate layer as plain text boxes. In you "Pages" palette window you will also find the "Layers". In here we add "Knowbody Label It" which is write protected initially. Just unprotect the layer and you can select/ammend it. It is 100% standard text boxes! Kind Regards Søren Rehné sre@knowbody.dk [alert admin]

Knowbody Cool Kerning 2.0.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Pricing

At Knowbody we are aware that the pricing strategy is targeted at companies. This product is very focused on solving a problem that especially Newspapers have. Our existing customers are all companies that have high volume and for these customsers pricing is not the issue. They save much, much more than they actually spent. 1 customer actually saves 8 man-hours every week on one production! The yearly fee is also our customers warranty! If a new version of InDesign requires an update ... it is not an unplanned cost for our customers. You pay for 1 year only and that is for the use of the newest version at any time! Since we know that InDesign 3.0 is arround the corner and that Adobe probably will release an update every 18 month we need to make sure, that we can affort to update the product. The pricing strategy is actually based on a request from our customers and we are commited to our large customers and are not trying to sell our plugins for everyone with an InDesign. We would like to sell the plugins for customers that have a significant need for the plugin. Else we might end up supporting plugins for people who only use the plugin once every year. And that is not profitable for anyone. Basically it comes down to this: We want to spent our time on projects that make a difference for our customers. On the other hand: The more customers that buy the product ... the lower we can set the yearly fee! So join us ... and help to lower the prices ;-) [alert admin]

Knowbody Smart Paste 1.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Pricing

We understand, that individuals might not be willing to pay a yearly fee. On the other hand a lot of companies are saving loads on our plugins and are therefor willing to pay the price. And if we are to commit to have products in our product-line, we would also like to make sure, that we can take the time to update. You all know, that InDesign 3.0 is arround the corner. And Adobe will probably have a new update every 18 month. So if our customers are willing to share the cost for us to keep updating the plugin - we will keep it alive. Else we will discontinue the product and use the time on some of the other projects that we have in our pipeline. Hence the more customers that sign up for a yearly subscription the lower we are able to set the price. [alert admin]

> Pricing is simply unfriendly

A good portion of the website is not in English since the information here is not indented for international market. The area of plugins are all available in 3 languages. And ALL the movies under the Manual section of Cool Kerning (look here: http://www.knowbody.dk/productbasement/index.asp?language=2&PBSelProd=I000001&PBSelMenu=Manual are done on a MacOSX. But you're right. It's often not enough to state that the plugins are available for all platforms. People won't believe you unless you show it. So please look at the manual section…

Sangam Reader??

This solution is for customers that don't want to place the text "as-is". It is intented for customers that as an example want to use their own style definitions rather than the one, the word document is using. Say you want "Headline" instead of "Heading1" and "Body" instead of "Normal". What we found our customers normally did was: copy the text as plain text into ID and reapply layout. By using Smart Paste our customers can as an…

Thank you, gnunnery

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But we have a lot of companies that do heavy loads of professional production that are willing to pay the price. Even the new CS version will do the "standard" trick of importing unformated text. Still customers wants us to upgrade the version for CS. Not for fun but primarily to save money in their production! Free Alternative is a low-end version

The plugin is a simpler version! It does not allow for automatic detection of bold and italic. This is very nice when users have highlighted words inside the word document, you actually get the same bold and italic in InDesign! Kind Regards Søren Rehné
