iStabilize 2.2.3 (Mac OS X)

Files produced by demo not recognized.

Tried the demo. Looked promising, BUT: the files it produced (HD) could not be recognized (and thus not loaded or used) by Final Cut Express 4. Too bad. So, people: try it out first! [alert admin]

iShowU 1.39 (Mac OS X)

Just so you know...

When I updated my version of iShowU, and copied the new one over the old one (my mistake, ignorance) I suddenly got a popupmessage, and couldn't use it anymore. Although I did what was asked, it did NOT work. A HUGE warning would have been appropriate - don't update, unless you have a lot of time and don't need the app right now. So I HAD to download SnapZPro to get the job done. Only hours later I recieved an email with what I needed to get iShowU back to work. As I said: I don't trust it anymore. But I don't want to start an argument here. So I rest my case. Without iShowU. [alert admin]

iShowU 1.39 (Mac OS X)

Great PR ... for SnapPro

I bought iShowU some time ago, and was happy with it. But this phoning home business is complete madness. I even tried to update, but the 'simple' method used just does not work. So I decided to start using SnapPro again - now that it's universal, I' ll upgrade that and leave iShowU for what it is. Speaking of timing: well done, shinywhitebox. For me, hte competition between iShowU and SnapPro is over. The folks at shinywhitebox knocked themselves KO. Whoever is responsible there for this ridiculous decision of implementing a MS-way of controle, has really shot him- or herself in the foot. Bye bye shinywhitebox; I don't trust you anymore. Ever. Delicious Library 1.6.4 (Mac OS X)

Spectacular at first, but...

Spectacular to show of, but 2 major flaws in my point of view: 1) it does not recognise all films (come on, an official copy of Lord of the Rings, not recognised?) Now the makers will say, this problem is not within the program, but, I am sorry, that does not matter to me. Scanning is only worth it, in my humble opinion, when Everything is scanned, not when half your library is left out, for what reason whatsoever. (It obviously only scans a few avaiable stores, AND only one at the time - why would there be a choice to change the store as an option otherwise? 2) The scanning itself only works with certain surfaces. Shiny - plastic - ones tend to refuse to be scanned at all. So with this great capacity of scanning your films (or books), you end up with half of your stuff not scanned at all, and a quarter of the rest not recognised. t looks good, it is spectacular, but after 10 minutes you realise (well, I did) it's basically eyecandy. Unless you put in your stuff manually off course. [alert admin]

Moneydance 2005 (Mac OS X)

After upgrading, no more launching

Beware of the upgrade. After upgrading, Moneydance wont launch anymore on my iMac, but gives a fatal Java error. No way to get to my data anymore either. Nice. So far for reliability! [alert admin]

Spell Catcher X 10.2 (Mac OS X)

update, not upgrade

Rsoldin, I agree completely with you. I got in contact with the developers, and they were very helpfull, but I'm left here with a message on my screen (after the update!) telling me that I now have a temporary license which will expire in 2 weeks, instead of the one I purchased. The developers on the other hand told me it won't expire. Confusing, I should say, no? And maybe you consider it a detail, but we are NOT talking about an upGRADE here, but about an upDATE - you can see that in de versiontrackerwindow. OK, a detail, but an important one. As is the fact that I maybe overreacted. So I rest my case. [alert admin]

Spell Catcher X 10.2 (Mac OS X)

Bad policy.

I totally agree with the fact that a warning about having to pay for this upgrade should come up in the installationprocedure BEFORE the installation is done. Just dumping that info somewhere on a website is not only unefficient, it even suggests that the company forgot to put in in the installation on purpose. I will NOT pay for this, for that simple reason. [alert admin]

REALbasic 5.2fc5 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

printing

Ever since version 5, there own example of automatically printing more than one page (nextpage) - to be found in their language reference - does NOT work when compiled for windows, but does in Mac apps. It used to work in 4.5.2. So if you're a RB user, and are wondering if you should upgrade to 5... DONT. If one pays for an upgrade, one expects more features and less bugs, not the other way around. VueScan 7.6.47 (Mac OS X)

Thanks, Javierla.

Maybe that explains something. After paying for it some year ago, vuescan today suddenly stopted working properly, telling me I needed a new serialnumber, which I could get for free. (That sounded ok, because I already payed for the first one) Now the creator suddenly claims I have POSTED my serial somewhere, WHICH I DIDN'T. (But how do you prove that?) and therefore he disabled my serial number! All I can say is: beware before you pay. Think twice. I'm using the free Canondrivers now, and they work great. I wouldn't mind paying for an upgrade - if it would be announced that way. But being accused of something I didn't do, just to get me paying some extra bucks... No, thank you. There is definitely something r... in Denm... [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Since I upgraded…

to Jaguar the upgradewindow freezes 2/3 of the way. No response of the server from there. I get 2 responses, and then... Nada. With this brilliant idea of only being able to upgrade through the upgradepanel, I'm just stuck. That's what they call, consumerfriendly, I suppose? [alert admin]
