DiskWarrior 4.2 (Mac OS X)
Update succeeded with Alsoft support instructions
After three attempts that ended with an error immediately after entering the personalization information, I contacted Alsoft Technical Support from their website. Below the answer by Alsoft. Worked fine for me. When the error message appeared (and before dismissing the message), I copied the disk image file from the /private/tmp/ folder and burned it with Disk Utility. -------------------- Generally, this type of error indicates that something other process/ application is interfering with the updater (even though you have started the computer in Safe Mode). You can try burning the disk image manually using Disk Utility under OS X 10.3.x or higher. The updated DiskWarrior disk image is in the /private/tmp folder on the hard drive. To find the .dmg file do the following. 1. Run the updater. Allow it to read your DiskWarrior 4.x disc and enter the registration information when requested. 2. When it asks for a blank disc, go to the Finder (i.e. click on the desktop). 3. In the Finder, select the "Go to Folder..." command located in the "Go" menu. 4. The Go to Folder dialog will open and you will need to type the path "/private/tmp" (do not type the quote marks) and then press Go. This will open the tmp folder and you can then copy the .dmg file to the desktop (see note below). When dragging and dropping the disk image file from the tmp folder to the Desktop, make sure you hold down the "option" key so that a copy will be made instead of moving the original. Then burn it using Disk Utility (i.e. Use the "Burn" command from the "Images" menu and select the .dmg file). NOTE: The .dmg file is deleted when the updater quits. You need to make a copy of this temporary file before quitting the updater so that it does not go away. [alert admin]

MainMenu 2.0.0 (Mac OS X)
We knew all along that MainMenu would be free only in 1.x.x versions, the registration window in previous versions told us so. It apparently took VersionTracker a whole day to update the information for the new version as provided by the new developer, including not only the fact that it is now shareware, but also the correct version number, the "What's new" information, the system requirements, and the screenshot. Maybe the developer was late to provide the information and VersionTracker was informed that there was a new version before the developer sent his information, I don't know. I do know that VersionTracker updates information in weekends less frequently than on other days and on a Sunday it can take most of the day before provided info is actually posted. I like MainMenu and I would have paid for the 1.x.x versions if it would have been shareware. There are more utilities that can do the same, but MainMenu is extremely easy to use and always ready to be accessed in the menubar. I welcome the fact that MainMenu is again under active development, which will ensure that it will be updated for coming system versions if needed. I purchased version 2.0.0. [alert admin]

Just FYI, there is now active development on a Leopard compatible version. A sourceforge member has stepped up with a massive effort, and is working in tandem with the lead developer of the project to put out a testing version soon. [alert admin]

Many more advanced text editors can do what you need, even TextEdit can do that: Open text in one encoding and save in a different encoding.

I tried three times, the third time after a safe boot. Failed all three times in exactly the same way. My original disk is a CD. At first, everything seems to proceed fine. Immediately after entering the personalization information, the updater tells me to insert a blank CD and at same time tells me that an error occurred creating the image and burning the disk. It seems that the created image cannot be unmounted. Dismissing the…

The same here. Intel iMac 10.5.6, '08 versions of iLife and iWork, no iLife or iWork '09, no Aperture, and Software Update offers this update. Not sure what to do. I think I will wait till more information is provided.

You should ask the developer, not post here
Requests and comments like this should be directed towards the developer, not posted on VersionTracker.

A very informative article, thanks. I checked on my PowerBook G4 on which I did a clean install of Leopard in January. The daily script did run weeks ago for the last time and the weekly and monthly scripts had not run at all since the system was installed.
