Still can't get their _________ updater to work! ![]()

Even with all of the incredibly negative feedback regarding their updater they had the _____ to email me stating that only a few users have had trouble!!! With their declaration therefore that of course it must be me and others with something else that is installed that must be causing the problem they explained to 'simple me' how to use their crippled updater (as most of the people that have posted here have noted). And yet again after approximately an hour trying-and-trying... it still doesn't work! The day another app offers a similar feature I'm done with Alsoft. Read the reviews Alsoft! [alert admin]

MainMenu 1.7.4 (Mac OS X)
An absolutely great app! Hard to believe it's still free. If you don't already use it try it -- I use it almost every day. Those Viennese are very creative! Many thanks. [alert admin]

Still missing a webarchive in a single page (without also installing an extension that may or may not work with the next update), nor the ability to add text increase/decrease buttons in the toolbar (again... without adding an extension). Not everyone wants to have to add third party extensions for some basic features we have become accustomed to while using Safari for years. [alert admin]

Wiktionary Widget 0.9.2a (Mac OS X)
In response to the last reviewer stating that this takes up a lot of space. No it doesn't. By simply clicking on the 'X' to the right of your search word after reading the expanded window... the widget will collapse/minimize to your minimal setting (just as the Wikipedia widget does). Very nice! Thanks for this! [alert admin]

GlimmerBlocker 1.2 (Mac OS X)
I just installed GlimmerBlocker so perhaps this is too soon to actually review it but... I am incredibly impressed!!! For a very long time now (since I visit tvguide.com almost daily) I have been looking for an app that would eliminate their large number of animated ads. The are quite a distraction, but also sometimes slow the loading of their site. Well... GlimmerBlocker did this right-out-of-the-box! I didn't have to create any settings for it to do this. Another thing... when I have used plugins in the past to block ads sometimes they have either not allowed the site to load properly or it took a long time for the site to load thereby defeating one of the purposes (i.e. to load site more quickly since the animated ads would not need to load). This software at least appears to make sites load much more quickly if they have animated ads (e.g. HULU). Also many apps/software hack the system or use input-managers (e.g. Pith Helmet) not necessarily a secure option for your system, though I know PH has a considerable following. As far as GB's speed... I'm connected via cable, but it still makes quite a difference when you are checking out many sites very quickly as I often do. Hope this remains as incredible as it appears in my short time of use. And to think that it is freeware! My compliments to the developers! [alert admin]

HARD locks entire system. Requires hard restart. ![]()

I really wish this would work but... The demo version has locked up my entire system several times in demoing it for no more than an hour. Each time I have had to do a hard restart. Hard on the system and VERY time consuming since it also requires doing a SUM to make sure the system has not been corrupted. Also though the MPEG-4 option preference setting worked the first time I used it and saved the capture as a very small file... after I tried a couple other formats and then tried to save as an MPEG-4 again it would not save in this format again and saved files that were huge (i.e. 10+ the size of the original MPEG-4 though the size and time of the capture was not that much different). Again... I wish you luck with this app since... though I use SnapZ Pro for static images... the $40 upgrade that Ambrosia requires is too much, just to occasionally take a movie capture. Let me know when the bugs get worked out. I'll check back. Good luck. (OSX 10.5.4 on a G5 tower) [alert admin]

I guess I shouldn't assume that the system info I'd entered in my review that immediately prior to this comment is 'connected' to this comment so... I'm running OSX 10.5.4 on a G5 box.

20 GBs each for a website!!! You don't even design websites! The largest corporate sites in the world would not have a site that size. I'm a website designer that studied at UCLA and that was so ridiculous I had to comment.

I have a website with a visible email address. If it were not for SpamSieve I'd have to read through sometimes hundreds of spam emails PER DAY to find the actual important emails I need. Apple filters can be good but must be set individually and spammers know how to get around the Apple filters. But SpamSieve knows the spammers tricks and can defeat them.

jjjazzz... I see you got the incredibly rude, paranoid 'tech support' that I got also. I have literally never had any software developer respond so vehemently for absolutely no reason. I wouldn't use this no matter how good it is now. I double checked Ricky's site and now see that he has banned me from the entire site! Unbelievable. He must have a lot of time to work on his software since he can't have…

When I said... "...this is one of the most secure ways to secure folders/files..." I was NOT refering to this app or any app that SIMPLY makes the file invisible. I was rather referring to what MacDefender had suggested which is to use Disk Utility to create an UNcompressed AES128 DMG or even better yet... an AES256 DMG which will open very quickly since it is UNcompressed. Even GB folders open very quickly this way...…

Very helpful... especially since this is one of the most secure ways to prevent disclosure of your files (which could otherwise easily be displayed on your desktop or worse... a fully displayed image; important form; etc. if the Finder quits and reverts to what you were looking at recently EVEN IF THE FOLDERS/FILES ARE INVISIBLE/HIDDEN!). In addition to AES... I'd also add that you should definitely use an app like this one to prevent someone from…
