Degrees Down Under Widget 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

New version coming soon

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has recently made changes to its website. As a result, the current version (1.0.2) of this widget no longer works, at least for some locations. We hope to have an updated version available in the near future.

In the meantime, you can use version 2.3 of the Degrees Down Under application, which has been updated to accommodate the website changes. It also adds an option to display "apparent" temperature, which was introduced to the Bureau of Meteorology's website as part of the recent changes.

Privilege Processor 0.9b (Mac OS X)

No longer under development (from Developer)

(I'm posting this as Commentary because the site won't let me post Developer Notes at present for some reason.)

Privilege Processor does not work with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger (and may not be fully compatible with 10.3 Panther). I have done some initial investigation into solutions, but haven't completely resolved the problems.

Due to other priorities, I am unlikely to finish this work any time soon. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Note that Privilege Processor is open source and licensed under the GPL, so any AppleScript developer can have a go at modifying it. I am happy to share the work I have already done with anyone interested - contact me via my homepage. [alert admin]

Address Actions 0.2 (Mac OS X)

Website changes causing problems? (from Developer)

(I'm posting this as Commentary because the site won't let me post Developer Notes at present for some reason.)

Due to changes in the Whereis website which Address Actions uses to provide maps, Whereis mapping may not work correctly at the moment. I am looking at updates to the software to fix this.

You can check the latest situation at my website, or subscribe to my RSS news feed to stay up-to-date.

Apologies for any inconvenience. [alert admin]

Degrees Down Under 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Issues still in version 2.0?

I hope the window postion bug is fixed in the latest release (2.0). Please let me know if not! Also, I'm not clear what home page link I posted that is still relevant to this version. Temperature display in the menu bar is a popular request, and should make it into the next version. (The Read Me lists this and other possible additions for future versions.) [alert admin]

Melbourne Temp 1.0 (Mac OS X)

It has been…

pointed out to me that Melbourne Temp leaks memory when it refreshes the temperature display. This means that, after it has been running for a while, your computer's performance may degrade. I will post a new version which addresses this problem soon. In the meantime, I recommend that you quit the application every few hours or so to minimise problems. - Robert, Melbourne Temp developer [alert admin]

Melbourne Temp 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Thanks for all…

the feedback. The other cities are coming, but it might take a couple of weeks due to other things I have on at present. I've posted a new version which lets you reopen the window, but I'm only game to make it a beta for now until more people have tried it out. You can get it at http://homepage.mac.com/rjsdev/.Public/MelbourneTemp1.0.1b.dmg . If you try it, let me know how you go. - Robert, Melbourne Temp developer [alert admin]

Should not need to specify Australia (from Developer)

Thanks Chris for reporting the issue you described. I agree it would be a pain to have to type Australia for each address, and AusAB is designed to assume addresses are in Australia without requiring you to enter the country for each address.

Perhaps the issue is with the format of the State. As noted in the Read Me:

'An address may not work properly if the State field is not typed exactly as follows (upper or…
