As some people might have noticed our old webspace provider just died. The links above work ... hopefully by mid-week (Feb 8th) our DNS will be changed over and we will again be at lightsoft.co.uk. Regards, Rob Probin Lightsoft [alert admin]

User help

I'd just like to point out that we help out all user queries - such as Paul below. The fastest way is by email to the support address, but there are also quite a few knowledgable users on the forums as well who can help out. Additionally, we like to hear about ideas for new features and it's great to fix any problems people come across. Regards, Rob Probin Lightsoft [alert admin]

Home Weather Center 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)

Location Lookup Solution

lexicon5 - it appears as though you've run it off the disk image, which won't work. If you run it off the hard drive then I get several hundred returns for New York (it takes a good few seconds for the sites to return this many hits). It does say in the manual - but I guess everyone wants to run it straight away. Anyhow we've just released a 1.23 which catches this failure mode. We do care and will fix problems you come across. (we don't like unhappy people or low ratings!!) Regards, Rob Probin Lightsoft [alert admin]

The weather.com decoder stopped working on Thursday after weather.com updated their page layout and as such we had to update the decoder. Regards, Rob Probin rob@lightsoft.co.uk [alert admin]

Kairos 2.1.5 (Mac OS X)

Kairos User Feedback

Long term storage is certainly something we are looking at as a high priority. As for precipitation info - believe it or not no one has requested it until now! (and obviously we were too stupid (-: ) Obviously we need a data source with rainfall/snowfall as a metric - but I guess if "WeatherMan X" gets it then so can we. Exporting is also something that we've recently had requested - so are considering it for some future version. Minimising the display - yes I personnally use hide - but maybe some sort of mini-window would be helpful ... we'll think about it (ideas welcome). Kairos really is a user driven product. Let us know what you want! Feel free to send feedback or feature requests to kairos_support@lightsoft.co.uk Regards, Rob Probin, Lightsoft [alert admin]

VersionTracker 6.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Some Positive VT suggestions

There are some very interesting features on the new VersionTracker, but I'd have to agree with the lot of the feedback from others. To summarise mine in order of annoyance, hopefully with some useful suggestions rather than just "it's not as good as the previous version"... 1. The comments are hidden from the user, and it introduces an extra step - this is most important when reviewing say 10 or 30 programs for fitness for purpose. The user reviews are definitely one of the most important things, along with how long ago the software was updated (currently important for 10.x). SUGGESTION: Put some of them with the product description, or at least the a selection of the scoring. (Some sort of scoring on the search page would also be great.) 2. Older version comments are hidden - quite often I don't need any comments about the latest version (which might not have been reviewed yet), but get a feeling of the program quality from older comments. SUGGESTION: List the number of reviews/comments of older versions. Perhaps also include an overall score for older versions (or the last one). 3. When post a comment, if you are using multiple windows/tabs, the comments can get posted against the wrong Application!!! 4. The "version" drop down sticks when going back to the program from the search menu. SUGGESTION: Should go back to selected/latest version. 5. It's difficult to see how many versions there are - which can be useful information. SUGGESTION: It would be nice to see the version in list, rather than a drop down. 6. The comments are truncated (with a "Read more" indicated) after too few lines. SUGGESTION: make it a few more. 7. The [Alert Admin] was confusing the first time I saw it. My immediate reaction was "are all these people admins?". SUGGESTION: Re-word to "Inform Admin" or similar and make it underscored rather than bracketed (like a link). 8. Using Safari the product description text quite often overlaps the product summary box to the right. Might be a Safari bug of course, since it doesn't appear to do it in Mozilla. 9. The current version to the right of the product description shows the currently selected version. Perhaps a "latest version" would also be helpful, especially when reading older versions. 10. I'm sure VersionTracker is slower. I'm not sure what you can do about this - I know sometimes VT is under high load. I suppose the suggestion is for more people to registers so VT can get bigger CPU's :-) [alert admin]

Kairos 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Nick, yes we…

do read the comments here. We are quite pleased with the feedback we have had. Quite a few of user suggestions are already in progress or planned for future releases. We'll post the updates as soon as they are available. Rest assured we are working hard on Kairos. We'd love to get more feature suggestions - to ensure we actually see them we suggest sending them to kairos_support@lightsoft.co.uk. We do read every one and try to reply to as many as possible. Regards, Rob & Stu @ Lightsoft [alert admin]

Zex doesn't compare well

Regarding graphics ... it's meant to be retro yet 3d. Still I guess I can understand where you are coming from. The gameplay comment seems a bit non-specific, surely it's not all bad? Regards, Rob Probin Lightsoft
